1 The mashaa (burden) of the gayaa (valley) of chazayawan (vision). What ails you apaw (now), that you have all ilah (go up / offer) up to the housetops?
2 You that are full of thashaah (shouting), a hamah (great uproar) iyar (city), a ilayaz (joyous) town; your chalal (slain) are not chalal (slain) with the charab (sword), neither are they mawath (death) in malachamah (battle).
3 All your qatzayan (rulers) nadad (fled) away yachad (together). They were asar (bound) by the qashath (archers). All who were matzaa (found) by you were asar (bound) yachad (together). They barach (fled) rachawaq (far) away.
4 Therefore I amar (said), “shaih (look) away from me. I will bakay (weep) bitterly. Don't awatz (labor) to nacham (turn away / repent) me for the shad (destruction) of the banath (daughter) of my im (nation / people).
5 For it is a yawam (day) of mahawamah (confusion), and of mabawasah (treading) down, and of mabawakah (perplexity), from the Adanay (), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), in the gayaa (valley) of chazayawan (vision); a qawar (breaking) down of the qayar (walls), and a shawai (crying) to the har (mountain).”
6 Iyalam (Elam) nashaa (lift) his ashapah (quiver), with rakab (chariots) of adam (men) and horsemen; and Qayar (Kir) irah (uncovered) the magan (shield).
7 It happened that your mabachar (choicest) imaq (valleys) were malaa (full) of rakab (chariots), and the horsemen shayath (put / appoint / make) themselves in shayath (put / appoint / make) at the shair (gate).
8 He took away the masak (covering) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah); and you nabat (looked) in that yawam (day) to the armor in the bayath (house) of the yair (forest).
9 You raah (see / saw) the breaches of the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), that they were many; and you qabatz (gathered) together the may (waters) of the thachathawan (lower) barakah (pool).
10 You sapar (book) the bathay (houses) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and you nathatz (broke) down the bathay (houses) to batzar (fortify) the chawamah (wall).
11 You also ishah (make) a reservoir between the two chamathayam (walls) for the mayam (Waters) of the yashan (old) barakah (pool). But you didn't nabat (look) to him who ishah (make) done this, neither did you raah (see / saw) respect for him who yatzar (purposed) it rachawaq (long) ago.
12 In that yawam (day), the Adanay (), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), qaraa (called) to bakay (weeping), and to masapad (mourning), and to qarachah (baldness), and to dressing in sackcloth:
13 And behold, shashawan (joy) and shamachah (gladness), harag (kill) cattle and shachat (killing) tzaan (sheep), akal (eat) bashar (flesh) and shathah (drinks) yayan (wine): “Let us akal (eat) and shathah (drinks), for machar (tomorrow) we will mawath (death).”
14 Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) galah (revealed) himself in my azan (ear), “Surely this iwan (guilt/iniquity) will not be kapar (forgiven) you until you mawath (death),” amar (spoke) the Adanay (), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies).
15 Thus amar (spoke) the Adanay (), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), yalak (go), “bawaa (come) yourself to this sakan (treasurer), even to Shabanaa (Shebna), who is over the bayath (house), and say,
16 ‘What are you doing here? Who has you here, that you have chatzab (dug) out a tomb here?’ Chatzab (cutting) himself out a tomb on marawam (high), chiseling a mashakan (habitation) for himself in the salai (rock)!”
17 Behold, Yahawah () will overcome you and hurl you tawal (away) violently. Yes, he will grasp you firmly.
18 He will tzanap (surely) tzanap (wind) you around and around, and throw you like a dawar (ball) into a rachab (large) aratz (Earth/land). There you will mawath (death), and there the marakabawath (chariots) of your kabawad (glory) will be, you qalawan (shame) of your Adawan () bayath (house).
19 I will hadap (thrust) you from your office. You will be haras (pulled) down from your station.
20 It will happen in that yawam (day) that I will qaraa (called) my ibad (servant) Alayaqayam (Eliakim) the ban (son) of Chalaqayah (Hilkiah),
21 And I will labash (clothe) him with your kathanath (robe), and chazaq (strengthen) him with your belt. I will nathan (give) your mamashalah (rule / govern) into his yad (hand); and he will be a ab (father) to the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and to the bayath (house) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah).
22 I will nathan (give) the mapathach (key) of the bayath (house) of Dawad (David) on his shakam (shoulder). He will pathach (open), and no one will sagar (shut). He will sagar (shut), and no one will pathach (open).
23 I will thaqai (blow / sound alarm) him like a yathad (nail) in a aman (believe / have faith) maqawam (place). He will be for a kasaa (throne) of kabawad (glory) to his ab (father) bayath (house).
24 They will thalah (hang) on him all the kabawad (glory) of his ab (father) bayath (house), the tzaatzaa (offspring) and the tzapaih (issue), every qatan (small / young / least) kalay (vessel), from the aganawath (cups) even to all the nabalayam (pitchers).
25 “In that yawam (day),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), “the yathad (nail) that was thaqai (blow / sound alarm) in a aman (believe / have faith) maqawam (place) will give mawash (way). It will be gadai (cut) down, and napal (fall / be cast down). The mashaa (burden) that was on it will be karath (cut) off, for Yahawah () has dabar (word / matter) it.”
