Job 22 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Then Alayapaz (Eliphaz) the thayamanay (temanite) inah (answer / respond),

“Can a gabar (man) be sakan (profitable) to Al? Kay (surely) he who is shakal (wise) is sakan (profitable) to himself.

Is it any chapatz (pleasure) to the Shaday (), that you are tzadaq (righteous / just / fair)? Or does it benefit him, that you make your darak (ways) thamam (perfect)?

Is it for your piety that he yakach (reproves) you, that he bawaa (bring) with you into mashapat (judgment)?

Isn't your rai (wickedness) rab (great)? Neither is there any qatz (end) to your iwan (guilt/iniquity).

For you have taken chabal (pledges) from your ach (brother/kinsman) for chanam (nothing), and pashat (stripped) the irawam (naked) of their bagad (clothing).

You haven't given mayam (Waters) to the iyap (weary) to shaqah (drink), and you have withheld lacham (bread) from the raib (hungry).

But as for the zarawai (mighty) ayash (man / husband), he had the aratz (Earth/land). The nashaa (lift) man, he lived in it.

You have shalach (send) alamanawath (widows) away rayaqam (empty), and the zaraiwath (arms) of the yathawam (fatherless) have been dakaa (broken).

Therefore pachayam (snares) are around you. Pathaawam (sudden) pachad (fear / dread) bahal (troubles) you,

Or chashak (darkness), so that you can not raah (see / saw), and floods of mayam (Waters) kasah (cover) you.

“Isn't Alawah () in the gabah (heights) of shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens)? Raah (see) the gabah (height) of the kawakabayam (stars), how rawam (will lift up) they are!

You amar (said), ‘What does Al yadai (know)? Can he shapat (judge / judgement) through the irapal (thick) darkness?

Ib (thick) clouds are a sathar (secret / hidden) to him, so that he doesn't raah (see / saw). He halak (move) on the vault of the sky.’

Will you shamar (keep/guard) the iwalam (eternity) arach (way), which awan (wicked) mathay (men) have darak (trodden),

Who were snatched away before their ith (time), whose yasawad (foundation) was yatzaq (poured) out as a stream,

Who amar (spoke) to Al, ‘sawar (depart) from us;’ and, ‘What can the Shaday () pail (do) for us?’

Yet he malaa (filled) their bayath (house) with tawab (good / proper function) things, but the itzah (counsel) of the rashai (wicked) is rachaq (far) from me.

The tzadayaq (righteous) raah (see / saw) it, and are shamach (glad). The naqay (innocent) ridicule them,

Saying, ‘am (mother) those who rose up against us are kachad (cut) off. The ash (fire) has akal (eat) their yathar (remnant).’

“Sakan (acquaint) yourself with him, now, and be at shalam (peace). Thereby tawab (good / proper function) shall bawaa (bring) to you.

Please laqach (take / seize) instruction from his pah (mouth), and shawam (place / establish / appoint) up his amar (said) in your labab (heart).

If you shawab (turn back / repent) to the Shaday (), you shall be banah (build) up, if you rachaq (put) away iwal (unrighteousness) rachaq (far) from your ahal (tents).

Shayath (put / appoint / make) your treasure in the ipar (dust), the gold of Awapayar (Ophir) among the tzawar (stones) of the nachalayam (brooks).

The Shaday () will be your treasure, and precious kasap (silver) to you.

For then you will inag (delight) yourself in the Shaday (), and shall nashaa (lift) up your panayam (face) to Alawah ().

You shall make your ithar (prayer) to him, and he will shamai (hearken / hear) you. You shall shalam (pay) your nadar (vow).

You shall also gazar (decree) a thing, and it shall be qawam (rise up) to you. Awar (light) shall nagah (shine) on your darak (ways).

When they shapal (cast) down, you shall amar (said), ‘be lifted up.’ He will yashai (salvation) the shach (humble) person.

He will even malat (deliver) him who is not naqay (innocent). Yes, he shall be malat (delivered) through the bar (cleanness) of your kap (hands).”
