Job 33 — English–Hebrew Parallel

“However, Ayawab (Job), please shamai (hearken / hear) my speech, and shamai (hearken / hear) to all my dabar (word / matter).

See now, I pathach (have) opened my pah (mouth). My lashawan (tongue / language) has dabar (word / matter) in my chak (mouth).

My amar (said) shall utter the yashar (upright) of my lab (heart). That which my shapah (lips) daith (know) they shall malal (speak) sincerely.

The rawach (spirit / wind) of Al ishah (make) made me, and the nashamah (breathing thing) of the Shaday () gives me chayah (life).

If you yakal (can), shawab (turn) me. Irak (set) your words in order panayam (face) me, and yatzab (stand) forth.

Behold, I am toward Al even as you are. I am also qaratz (formed) out of the chamar (clay).

Behold, my ayamah (terror) shall not make you baith (afraid), neither shall my pressure be kabad (heavy) on you.

“Surely you have amar (said) in my azan (ear), I have shamai (hearken / hear) the qawal (sound / voice) of your malayan (words), saying,

‘I am zak (clean), without disobedience. I am chap (innocent), neither is there iwan (guilt/iniquity) in me.

Behold, he matzaa (finds) thanawaawath (occasions) against me. He chashab (counts) me for his ayab (enemy).

He shawam (place / establish / appoint) my ragal (feet / foot) in the sad (stocks). He shamar (keep/guard) all my arach (paths).’

“Behold, I will inah (answer / respond) you. In this you are not tzadaq (righteous / just / fair), for Alawah () is rabah (greater) than anawash (man).

Why do you rayab (strive) against him, because he doesn't inah (answer / respond) account of any of his dabar (word / matter)?

For Al dabar (word / matter) achad (one), yes shanayam (two), though shawar (man) pays no attention.

In a chalawam (dream), in a chazayawan (vision) of the layal (night), when tharadamah (deep) sleep napal (fall / be cast down) on anashayam (men), in thanawamah (slumbering) on the mashakab (bed);

Then he galah (opens) the azan (ear) of anashayam (men), and chatham (seals) their masar (instruction),

That he may sawar (withdraw) adam (man) from his purpose, and kasah (hide) gawah (pride) from gabar (man).

He chashak (darkness) back his napash (soul) from the shachath (pit), and his chay (life) from ibar (pass over/through) by the shalach (sword).

He is yakach (chastened) also with makaab (pain) on his mashakab (bed), with continual strife in his itzam (bones);

So that his chay (life) zaham (abhors) lacham (bread), and his napash (soul) thaawah (dainty) maakal (food).

His bashar (flesh) is so kalah (complete / finish) away, that it can't be raay (seen). His itzam (bones) that were not raah (see / saw) shapay (stick) out.

Yes, his napash (soul) qarab (come close) near to the shachath (pit), and his chay (life) to the mamathayam (destroyers).

“If there is beside him an malaak (angel / messenger of Yah), an lawatz (interpreter), achad (one) among a alap (thousand), to show to adam (man) what is yashar (upright) for him;

Then Alahayam () is gracious to him, and amar (spoke), ‘padai (deliver) him from yarad (going) down to the shachath (pit), I matzaa (have) found a kapar (ransom).’

His bashar (flesh) shall be fresher than a nair (child's). He shawab (turn) to the yamay (days) of his ilawam (youth).

He ithar (prays) to Alawah (), and he is favorable to him, so that he raah (see) his panayam (face) with tharawaih (joy). He shawab (turn back / repent) to anawash (man) his tzadaqah (righteousness).

He sings before anashayam (men), and amar (said), ‘I have chataa (sinned), and iwah (perverted) that which was yashar (upright), and it didn't shawah (profit) me.

He has padah (redeemed) my napash (soul) from ibar (pass over/through) into the shachath (pit). My chay (life) shall raah (see / saw) the awar (light).’

“Behold, Al pail (works) all these things, paim (twice), yes three times, with a gabar (man),

To shawab (turn) back his napash (soul) from the shachath (pit), that he may be enlightened with the awar (light) of the chay (life).

Qashab (mark) well, Ayawab (Job), and shamai (hearken / hear) to me. Hold your charash (peace), and I will dabar (word / matter).

If you yash (have) anything to malah (say), shawab (turn) me. Dabar (word / matter), for I chapatz (desire) to justify you.

If not, shamai (hearken / hear) to me. Hold your charash (peace), and I will alap (teach) you chakamah (wisdom).”
