Joshua 3 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Yahawashawai (Joshua) shakam (rose) up early in the baqar (morning); and they moved from Shatayam (Shittim), and bawaa (bring) to the Yaradan (Jordan), he and all the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel). They lawan (lodged) there before they ibar (pass over/through) over.

It happened qatzah (end / extremity / border) shalawash (three) yamayam (days), that the shatarayam (officers) ibar (pass over/through) qarab (among / near) the midst of the machanah (camp);

And they tzawah (commanded) the im (nation / people), amar (spoke), “When you raah (see) the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) of Yahawah () your Alahayam (), and the kahanayam (priests) the Lawayay (Levites) nashaa (lift) it, then you shall move from your maqawam (place), and halak (move) it.

Yet there shall be a rachawaq (space) between you and it, about two alap (thousand) amah (cubits) by madah (measure). Don't qarab (come close) near to it, that you may yadai (know) the darak (way) by which you must yalak (go); for you ibar (pass over/through) not passed this darak (way) thamawal (before).”

Yahawashawai (Joshua) amar (spoke) to the im (nation / people), “qadash (set apart / make holy) yourselves; for machar (tomorrow) Yahawah () will ishah (make) napalaawath (wonders) qarab (among / near) you.”

Yahawashawai (Joshua) amar (said) to the kahanayam (priests), amar (said), “nashaa (lift) up the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant), and ibar (pass over/through) over panayam (face) the im (nation / people).” They nashaa (lift) up the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant), and yalak (went) panayam (face) the im (nation / people).

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Yahawashawai (Joshua), “Today I will chalal (begin) to gadal (magnify) you in the iyan (eye) of all Yashar-Al (Israel), that they may yadai (know) that as I was with Mashah (Moses), so I will be with you.

You shall tzawah (command) the kahanayam (priests) who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant), amar (said), ‘When you bawaa (bring) to the qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the may (waters) of the Yaradan (Jordan), you shall imad (stand) still in the Yaradan (Jordan).’”

Yahawashawai (Joshua) amar (spoke) to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), “nagash (come) here, and shamai (hearken / hear) the dabaray (words) of Yahawah () your Alahayam ().”

“Yahawashawai (Joshua) amar (said), Hereby you shall yadai (know) that the chay (life) Al is qarab (among / near) you, and that he will yarash (without) fail drive the Kanainay (Canaanite), and the Chathay (Hittite), and the Chaway (Hivite), and the Parazay (Perizzite), and the Garagashay (Girgashite), and the Amaray (Amaray / Amorite), and the Yabawasay (Jebusite) out from panayam (face) you.

Behold, the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) of the Adawan () of all the aratz (Earth/land) passes over panayam (face) you into the Yaradan (Jordan).

Now therefore laqach (take / seize) shanayam (two) ayash (man / husband) out of the shabatay (tribes) of Yashar-Al (Israel), for achad (one) shabat (tribe) a ayash (man / husband).

It shall come to pass, when the kapawath (soles) of the ragalay (feet) of the kahanayam (priests) who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), the Adawan () of all the aratz (Earth/land), nawach (rest) in the may (waters) of the Yaradan (Jordan), that the may (waters) of the Yaradan (Jordan) will be karath (cut) off, even the may (waters) that yarad (come) down from mail (top/above); and they shall imad (stand) in achad (one) nad (heap).”

It happened, when the im (nation / people) moved from their ahal (tents) to ibar (pass over/through) over the Yaradan (Jordan), the kahanayam (priests) who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) being panayam (face) the im (nation / people),

And when those who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) bawaa (bring) come to the Yaradan (Jordan), and the ragalay (feet) of the kahanayam (priests) who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) had tabal (dipped) in the qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the mayam (Waters) (for the Yaradan (Jordan) malaa (overflows) all its gadah (banks) all the yawam (day) of qatzayar (harvest)),

That the mayam (Waters) which yarad (came) down from mail (top/above) imad (stood), and qawam (rise up) up in achad (one) nad (heap), a maad (great) rachaq (way) off, at Adam (Adam), the iyar (city) that is tzad (beside) Tzarathan (Zarethan); and those that yarad (went) down toward the yam (sea/waters) of the irabah (arabah), even the malach (salt) yam (sea/waters), were wholly karath (cut) off. Then the im (nation / people) ibar (pass over/through) over right against Yarayachaw (Jericho).

The kahanayam (priests) who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) of Yahawah () imad (stood) kawan (firm) on dry charabah (ground) in the thawak (midst) of the Yaradan (Jordan); and all Yashar-Al (Israel) ibar (pass over/through) over on dry charabah (ground), until all the gaway (heathen / nation) ibar (pass over/through) passed completely over the Yaradan (Jordan).
