1 Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses) in the irabath (plains) of Mawaab (Moab) by the Yaradan (Jordan) at Yarayachaw (Jericho), amar (spoke),
2 “Tzawah (command) the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) that they nathan (give) to the Lawayay (Levites) of the nachalah (inheritance) of their achazah (possession) irayam (cities) to yashab (inhabit/dwell) in; and you shall nathan (give) magarash (suburbs) for the irayam (cities) around them to the Lawayay (Levites).
3 The irayam (cities) shall they have to yashab (inhabit/dwell) in; and their magarash (suburbs) shall be for their livestock, and for their rakawash (wealth / property / goods / possessions), and for all their animals.
4 “The magarashay (suburbs) of the irayam (cities), which you shall nathan (give) to the Lawayay (Levites), shall be from the qayar (wall) of the iyar (city) and outward one alap (thousand) amah (cubits) around it.
5 You shall madad (measure) outside of the iyar (city) for the qadam (east) paah (side) two alap (thousand) amah (cubits), and for the nagab (south) paah (side) two alap (thousand) amah (cubits), and for the yam (sea/waters) paah (side) two alap (thousand) amah (cubits), and for the tzapawan (north) paah (side) two alap (thousand) amah (cubits), the iyar (city) being in the thawak (midst). This shall be to them the magarashay (suburbs) of the irayam (cities).
6 “The irayam (cities) which you shall nathan (give) to the Lawayay (Levites), they shall be the shash (six) irayam (cities) of maqalat (refuge), which you shall nathan (give) for the manslayer to nawas (flee) to: and besides them you shall nathan (give) arabaiyam (forty) - shanayam (two) irayam (cities).
7 All the irayam (cities) which you shall nathan (give) to the Lawayay (Levites) shall be arabaiyam (forty) - shamanah (eight) irayam (cities) together with their magarash (suburbs).
8 Concerning the irayam (cities) which you shall nathan (give) of the achazah (possession) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), from the many you shall take many; and from the mait (few) you shall take mait (few): everyone pah (according) to his nachalah (inheritance) which he yanachalaw (inherits) shall nathan (give) of his irayam (cities) to the Lawayay (Levites).”

10 “Dabar (word / matter) to the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and amar (said) them, ‘When you ibar (pass over/through) over the Yaradan (Jordan) into the aratz (Earth/land) of Kanain (Canaan),
11 Then you shall qarah (appoint) you irayam (cities) to be irayam (cities) of maqalat (refuge) for you, that the manslayer who nakah (kills) any napash (soul) shagagah (unwittingly) may nawas (flee) there.
12 The irayam (cities) shall be to you for maqalat (refuge) from the gaal (avenger), that the manslayer not mawath (death), until he imad (stands) panayam (face) the idah (congregation) for mashapat (judgment).
13 The irayam (cities) which you shall nathan (give) shall be for you shash (six) irayam (cities) of maqalat (refuge).
14 You shall nathan (give) shalawash (three) irayam (cities) ibar (beyond) the Yaradan (Jordan), and you shall nathan (give) shalawash (three) irayam (cities) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Kanain (Canaan); they shall be irayam (cities) of maqalat (refuge).
15 For the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and for the gar (sojourner / stranger / foreigner) and for the foreigner living thawak (midst) them, shall these shash (six) irayam (cities) be for maqalat (refuge); that everyone who nakah (kills) any napash (soul) shagagah (unwittingly) may nawas (flee) there.
16 “‘But if he nakah (struck) him with an kalay (instrument) of barazal (iron), so that he mawath (death), he is a ratzach (murderer): the ratzach (murderer) shall mawath (death) be put to mawath (death).
17 If he nakah (struck) him with a aban (stone) in the yad (hand), by which a mawath (death) may die, and he mawath (death), he is a ratzach (murderer): the ratzach (murderer) shall mawath (death) be put to mawath (death).
18 Or if he nakah (struck) him with a kalay (weapon) of itz (wood) in the yad (hand), by which a mawath (death) may die, and he mawath (death), he is a ratzach (murderer): the ratzach (murderer) shall mawath (death) be put to mawath (death).
19 The avenger of dam (blood) shall himself ratzach (put) the murderer to mawath (death): when he pagai (meets) him, he shall put him to mawath (death).
20 If he hadap (thrust) him of hatred, or shalak (hurled) at him, tzadayah (lying) in wait, so that he mawath (death),
21 Or in enmity nakah (struck) him with his yad (hand), so that he mawath (death); he who nakah (struck) him shall mawath (death) be put to mawath (death); he is a ratzach (murderer): the gaal (avenger) of dam (blood) shall ratzach (put) the murderer to mawath (death), when he pagai (meets) him.
22 “‘But if he hadap (thrust) him pathai (suddenly) laa (NOT) enmity, or shalak (hurled) on him anything without tzadayah (lying) in wait,
23 Or with any aban (stone), by which a mawath (death) may die, not seeing him, and napal (fall / be cast down) it on him, so that he mawath (death), and he was not his ayab (enemy), neither baqash (sought) his rai (harm);
24 Then the idah (congregation) shall shapat (judge / judgement) between the striker and the gaal (avenger) of dam (blood) according to these mashapatayam (ordinances);
25 And the idah (congregation) shall natzal (deliver) the manslayer out of the yad (hand) of the gaal (avenger) of dam (blood), and the idah (congregation) shall shawab (turn) him to his iyar (city) of maqalat (refuge), where he was nawas (fled): and he shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) therein until the mawath (death) of the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) kahan (priest), who was mashach (anointed) with the qadash (set apart / make holy) shaman (oil).
26 “‘But if the manslayer shall at any yatzaa (go out / come out) yatzaa (go out / come out) beyond the gabawal (border/boundary) of his iyar (city) of maqalat (refuge), where he nawas (flees),
27 And the gaal (avenger) of dam (blood) matzaa (find) him outside of the gabawal (border/boundary) of his iyar (city) of maqalat (refuge), and the gaal (avenger) of dam (blood) ratzach (kill) the manslayer; he shall not be guilty of dam (blood),
28 Because he should have yashab (inhabit/dwell) in his iyar (city) of maqalat (refuge) until the mawath (death) of the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) kahan (priest): but achar (other) the mawath (death) of the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) kahan (priest) the manslayer shall shawab (turn) into the aratz (Earth/land) of his achazah (possession).
29 “‘These things shall be for a chaqah (statute) and mashapat (ordinance) to you throughout your dawar (generation / age / period) in all your mawashab (dwellings).
30 “‘Whoever nakah (kills) any napash (soul), the ratzach (murderer) shall be ratzach (slain) at the pah (mouth) of witnesses: but achad (one) id (until / as far as) shall not inah (answer / respond) against any napash (soul) that he mawath (death).
31 “‘Moreover you shall laqach (take / seize) no kapar (ransom) for the napash (soul) of a ratzach (murderer) who is rashai (guilty) of mawath (death); but he shall mawath (death) be put to mawath (death).
32 “‘You shall laqach (take / seize) no kapar (ransom) for him who is nawas (fled) to his iyar (city) of maqalat (refuge), that he may shawab (turn) again to yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the aratz (Earth/land), until the mawath (death) of the kahan (priest).
33 "‘So do not chanap (pollute) the aratz (Earth/land) in which you are: for dam (blood), it chanap (pollutes) the aratz (Earth/land); and no expiation can be made for the aratz (Earth/land) for the dam (blood) that is shapak (shed) therein, but by the dam (blood) of him who shapak (shed) it.
34 You shall not tamaa (defile) the aratz (Earth/land) which you yashab (inhabit/dwell), in the thawak (midst) of which I shakan (place): for I, Yahawah (), shakan (place) in the midst of the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel).’”
