Proverbs 16 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 The plans of the lab (heart) belong to adam (man), but the mainah (answer) of the lashawan (tongue / language) is from Yahawah ().

13 Tzadaq (righteous / just / fair) shapathay (lips) are the ratzawan (delight) of malakayam (kings). They value one who dabar (word / matter) the yashar (upright).

14 The malak (king) chamah (wrath) is a malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) of mawath (death), but a chakam (wise) ayash (man / husband) will kapar (pacify) it.

15 In the awar (light) of the malak (king) panayam (face) is chay (life). His favor is like a ib (cloud) of the spring malaqawash (rain).

16 How much tawab (good / proper function) it is to qanah (get) chakamah (wisdom) than charawatz (gold)! Yes, to qanah (get) bayanah (understanding) is to be bachar (chosen) rather than kasap (silver).

17 The masalah (highway) of the yashar (upright) is to sawar (depart) from rai (evil). He who natzar (keeps) his darak (way) shamar (keep/guard) his napash (soul).

18 Gaawan (pride) goes panayam (face) shabar (destruction), and a gabah (haughty) rawach (spirit / wind) panayam (face) a kashalawan (fall).

26 The appetite of the laboring napash (soul) imal (labors) for him; for his pah (mouth) urges him on.

27 A worthless ayash (man / husband) devises rai (mischief). His shapah (speech) is like a scorching ash (fire).

28 A thahapakah (perverse) ayash (man / husband) stirs up madawan (strife). A naragan (whisperer) parad (separates) close alawap (friends).

29 A ayash (man / husband) of chamas (violence) pathah (entices) his neighbor, and yalak (leads) him in a darak (way) that is not tawab (good / proper function).

31 Shayabah (old age / white hair - due to age) hair is a itarah (crown) of glory. It is attained by a darak (life) of tzadaqah (righteousness).

32 One who is arak (slow) to ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) is tawab (good / proper function) than the gabawar (mighty); one who mashal (rule/have dominion) his rawach (spirit / wind), than he who lakad (takes) a iyar (city).

33 The gawaral (lot) is tawal (cast) into the chayaq (lap), but its every decision is from Yahawah ().
