Proverbs 29 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 He who is often thawakachah (rebuked) and stiffens his irap (neck) will be shabar (destroyed) pathai (suddenly), with no marapaa (remedy).

2 When the tzadayaq (righteous) thrive, the im (nation / people) shamach (rejoice); but when the rashai (wicked) mashal (rule/have dominion), the im (nation / people) anach (groan).

3 Ayash (man / husband) ahab (love) chakamah (wisdom) brings shamach (joy) to his ab (father); but a raih (companion) of prostitutes squanders his hawan (wealth).

4 The malak (king) by mashapat (justice) makes the aratz (Earth/land) stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.

5 A gabar (man) who chalaq (flatters) his neighbor parash (spreads) a rashath (net) for his paim (feet).

6 An rai (evil) ayash (man / husband) is mawaqash (snared) by his pashai (sin), but the tzadayaq (righteous) can ranan (sing) and be shamach (glad).

7 The tzadayaq (righteous) care about dayan (judge) for the dal (poor). The rashai (wicked) aren't concerned about daith (knowledge).

8 Mockers stir up a qarayah (city / town), but chakam (wise) men shawab (turn) away ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting).

9 If a chakam (wise) ayash (man / husband) goes to court with a awayal (foolish) ayash (man / husband), the fool ragaz (rages) or scoffs, and there is no nachath (peace).

10 The bloodthirsty shanaa (hate) a tham (man) of integrity; and they baqash (seek) the napash (soul) of the yashar (upright).

11 A kasayal (fool) vents all of his rawach (spirit / wind), but a chakam (wise) shabach (man) brings himself under control.

12 If a mashal (rule/have dominion) listens to lies, all of his officials are rashai (wicked).

13 The rawash (poor) ayash (man / husband) and the oppressor have this in common: Yahawah () gives iyan (eye) to the iyanay (eyes) of shanayam (two).

14 The malak (king) who fairly shapat (judge / judgement) the dal (poor), his kasaa (throne) shall be kawan (established) id (until / as far as).

15 The shabat (rod) of thawakachah (correction) nathan (give) chakamah (wisdom), but a nair (child) shalach (send) to himself bawash (causes) shame to his am (mother).

16 When the rashai (wicked) rabah (increase), pashai (sin) rabah (increases); but the tzadayaq (righteous) will raah (see / saw) their downfall.

17 Yasar (correct) your ban (son), and he will nawach (give) you peace; yes, he will nathan (give) maidan (delight) to your napash (soul).

18 Where there is no revelation, the im (nation / people) cast off restraint; but one who shamar (keep/guard) the thawarah (Torah / Instruction) is ashar (who/that).

19 A ibad (servant) can't be yasar (corrected) by dabarayam (words). Though he bayan (between), yet he will not respond.

20 Do you chazah (see) a ayash (man / husband) who is hasty in his dabar (word / matter)? There is more thaqawah (hope) for a kasayal (fool) than for him.

21 He who pampers his ibad (servant) from nair (youth) will have him become a manawan (son) in the acharayath (end).

22 An angry ayash (man / husband) garah (stirs) up madawan (strife), and a chamah (wrathful) bail (man) rab (abounds) in pashai (sin).

23 A adam (man's) gaawah (pride) shapal (brings) him low, but shapal (one) of lowly rawach (spirit / wind) gains honor.

24 Whoever is an accomplice of a ganab (thief) is an shanaa (hate) of his own napash (soul). He takes an alah (these), but dares not testify.

25 The charadah (fear) of adam (man) proves to be a mawaqash (snare), but whoever batach (puts) his trust in Yahawah () is kept shagab (safe).

26 Many baqash (seek) the mashal (rule/have dominion) favor, but a ayash (man / husband) mashapat (justice) comes from Yahawah ().

27 A dishonest ayash (man / husband) detests the tzadayaq (righteous), and the yashar (upright) in their darak (ways) detest the rashai (wicked).
