Ruth 2 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Naimay (Naomi) had a kinsman of her ayash (man / husband), a gabawar (mighty) ayash (man / husband) of wealth, of the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of Alayamalak (Elimelech), and his sham (name) was Baiz (Boaz).

The Moabitess amar (said) to Naimay (Naomi), “yalak (let) me now go to the shadah (field), and laqat (glean) among the shabalayam (ears) of grain achar (other) him in whose iyan (eye) I shall matzaa (find) favor.” She amar (said) to her, “yalak (go), my banath (daughter).”

She yalak (went), and bawaa (bring) and laqat (gleaned) in the shadah (field) achar (other) the qatzarayam (reapers): and she happened to qarah (come) to the chalaqah (portion) of the shadah (field) belonging to Baiz (Boaz), who was of the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of Alayamalak (Elimelech).

Behold, Baiz (Boaz) bawaa (come) from Bayath-Lacham (Bethlehem), and amar (spoke) to the qawatzarayam (reapers), “Yahawah () be with you.” They amar (spoke) him, “Yahawah () barak (blessed) you.”

Then Baiz (Boaz) amar (said) to his nair (servant) who was natzab (set) over the qawatzarayam (reapers), “Whose nairah (young) lady is this?”

The nair (servant) who was natzab (set) over the qawatzarayam (reapers) inah (answer / respond), “It is the Mawaabay (Moabite) lady who shawab (turn) back with Naimay (Naomi) out of the shadah (country) of Mawaab (Moab).

She amar (said), ‘Please let me laqat (glean) and asap (gather) achar (other) the qawatzarayam (reapers) among the sheaves.’ So she bawaa (bring), and has imad (continued) even from the baqar (morning) until now, except that she stayed a mait (little) in the bayath (house).”

Then Baiz (Boaz) amar (said) to Rawath (Ruth), “shamai (hearken / hear), my banath (daughter). Don't yalak (go) to laqat (glean) in achar (other) shadah (field), and don't ibar (pass over/through) from here, but stay here close to my nairah (maidens).

Let your iyan (eye) be on the shadah (field) that they qatzar (reap), and halak (move) achar (other) them. Haven't I tzawah (commanded) the nair (young) men not to nagai (touch) you? When you are tzamaa (thirsty), halak (move) to the kalayam (vessels), and shathah (drinks) from that which the nair (young) men have shaab (drawn).”

Then she napal (fall / be cast down) on her panayam (face), and shachah (bowed) herself to the aratz (Earth/land), and amar (said) to him, “Why matzaa (have) I found favor in your iyan (eye), that you should take nakar (knowledge) of me, since I am a nakaray (foreigner)?”

Baiz (Boaz) inah (answer / respond) her, “It has nagad (fully) been shown me, all that you ishah (make) done to your mother-in-law achar (other) the mawath (death) of your ayash (man / husband); and how you have izab (left) your ab (father) and your am (mother), and the aratz (Earth/land) of your birth, and have yalak (come) to a im (nation / people) that you didn't yadai (know) thamawal (before).

May Yahawah () shalam (repay) your pail (work), and a shalam (full / whole / complete) mashakarath (reward) be given you from Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), under whose kanap (wings) you bawaa (come) come to take chasah (refuge).”

Then she amar (spoke), “Let me matzaa (find) favor in your iyan (eye), my Adawan (), because you have nacham (turn away / repent) me, and because you have dabar (word / matter) lab (heart) to your handmaid, though I am not as achad (one) of your handmaidens.”

At meal ith (time) Baiz (Boaz) amar (said) to her, “nagash (come) here, and akal (eat) of the lacham (bread), and tabal (dip) your path (morsel) in the chamatz (vinegar).” She yashab (inhabit/dwell) tzad (beside) the qawatzarayam (reapers), and they tzabat (reached) her qalay (parched) grain, and she akal (eat), and was shabai (satisfied), and yathar (left) some of it.

When she had qawam (rise up) up to laqat (glean), Baiz (Boaz) tzawah (commanded) his nair (young) men, amar (said), “Let her laqat (glean) even among the sheaves, and don't kalam (reproach) her.

Also pull out some for her from the bundles, and izab (leave) it, and let her laqat (glean), and don't gair (rebuke) her.”

So she laqat (gleaned) in the shadah (field) until irab (evening); and she chabat (beat) out that which she had laqat (gleaned), and it was about an ayapah (ephah) of shairah (barley).

She nashaa (lift) it up, and bawaa (bring) into the iyar (city); and her mother-in-law raah (see / saw) what she had laqat (gleaned): and she yatzaa (go out / come out) out and nathan (give) to her that which she had yathar (left) after she was sufficed.

Her mother-in-law amar (said) to her, “Where have you laqat (gleaned) today? Ayapah (where) ishah (make) you worked? Barak (blessed) be he who noticed you.” She showed her mother-in-law with whom she ishah (make) worked, and amar (said), “The ayash (man / husband) sham (name) with whom I ishah (make) today is Baiz (Boaz).”

Naimay (Naomi) amar (spoke) to her daughter-in-law, “barak (blessed) be he of Yahawah (), who has not izab (left) off his chasad (grace) to the chay (life) and to the mawath (death).” Naimay (Naomi) amar (spoke) to her, “The ayash (man / husband) is a close relative to us, ayash (man / husband) of our gaal (near) kinsmen.”

The Moabitess amar (said), “Yes, he amar (said) to me, ‘You shall stay dabaq (close) to my nair (young) men, until they kalah (complete / finish) ended all my qatzayar (harvest).’”

Naimay (Naomi) amar (said) to her kalah (complete / finish), “It is tawab (good / proper function), my banath (daughter), that you yatzaa (go out / come out) out with his nairah (maidens), and that they not pagai (meet) you in any other shadah (field).”

So she stayed dabaq (close) to the nairawath (maidens) of Baiz (Boaz), to laqat (glean) to the kalah (complete / finish) of shairah (barley) qatzayar (harvest) and of chatah (wheat) qatzayar (harvest); and she lived with her mother-in-law.
