2 Kings 12 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Yahawaash (Jehoash) was shabai (seven) shanah (years) ban (son) when he began to malak (king).

2 In the shabai (seven) shanah (year) of Yahawaa (Jehu) began Yahawaash (Jehoash) to malak (king); and he malak (king) forty shanayam (years) in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem): and his mother's name was Tzabayah (Zibiah) of Baar-Shabai (Beersheba).

3 Yahawaash (Jehoash) did that which was right in the eyes of Yahawah () all his arabaiyam (forty) in which Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the priest instructed him.

4 However the high places were not ishah (make) away; the people still ishah (make) and burnt incense in the high places.

5 Yahawaash (Jehoash) said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is sawar (brought) into the bamah (house) of Yahawah (), in current money, the money of the persons for whom each bamah (man) is rated, and all the money that it comes into any bamawath (mans) heart to sawar (bring) into the bamah (house) of Yahawah (),

6 Let the kahanayam (priests) bawaa (bring) it to them, every ayash (man / husband) from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the bayath (house), wherever any breach shall be found.”

7 But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Yahawaash (Jehoash) the kahanayam (priests) had not chazaq (repaired) the breaches of the bayath (house).

8 Then malak (king) Yahawaash (Jehoash) called for Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the kahan (priest), and for the other kahanayam (priests), and said to them, “Why don't you chazaq (repair) the breaches of the bayath (house)? Now therefore chazaq (take) no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for the breaches of the bayath (house).”

9 The kahanayam (priests) consented that they should laqach (take / seize) no more kasap (money) from the people, ayan (NO ONE) chazaq (repair) the breaches of the bayath (house).

10 But Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the kahan (priest) laqach (take / seize) a chest, and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the bayath (house) of Yahawah (): and the kahanayam (priests) who kept the threshold put therein all the kasap (money) that was laqach (take / seize) into the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

11 It was so, when they atzal (saw) that there was much kasap (money) in the arawan (chest), that the king's scribe and the ayash (man / husband) kahan (priest) nathan (give) up, and they nathan (give) up in bags and nathan (give) the kasap (money) that was found in the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

12 They gave the kasap (money) that was weighed out into the matzaa (hands) of those who hayah (came to pass) the ilah (go up / offer), who hayah (came to pass) the oversight of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (): and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders, who ilah (go up / offer) on the bayath (house) of Yahawah (),

13 And to the charashay (masons) and the stone cutters, and for buying itz (timber) and cut stone to banah (build) the breaches of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and for all that was yatzaa (go out / come out) out for the bayath (house) to banah (build) it.

14 But there were not gadar (made) for the bayath (house) of Yahawah () cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was yatzaa (go out / come out) into the bayath (house) of Yahawah ();

15 For they bawaa (come) that to those who did the ishah (make), and repaired therewith the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

16 Moreover they didn't demand an accounting from the ishay (make) into whose hand they nathan (give) the money to nathan (give) to those who did the malaakah (work); for they dealt faithfully.

17 The kasap (money) for the trespass offerings, and the kasap (money) for the ishah (make) offerings, was not nathan (give) into the house of Yahawah (): it was the priests’.

18 Then Chazaal (Hazael) king of Aram (Syria) bawaa (come) up, and fought against Gath, and bawaa (come) it; and Chazaal (Hazael) bawaa (come) his face to bawaa (come) up to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

19 Yahawaash (Jehoash) malak (king) of Gath (Judah) ilah (go up / offer) all the gath (holy) things that Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) and Yahawaram (Jehoram) and Achazayah (Ahaziah), his fathers, malak (king) of Gath (Judah), had dedicated, and his own gath (holy) things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the gath (house) of Yahawah (), and of the malak (king) gath (house), and sent it to Chazaal (Hazael) malak (king) of Aram (Syria): and he ilah (go up / offer) away from Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

20 Now the rest of the acts of Yawaash (Joash), and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Judah)?

21 His servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and struck Yawaash (Joash) at the house of Malawaa (Millo), on the way that ishah (make) down to Salaa (Silla).
