2 Kings 13 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 In the shalawash (three) and isharayam (twenty) shanah (year) of Yawaash (Joash) the ban (son) of Achazayah (Ahaziah), malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) the ban (son) of Yahawaa (Jehu) began to malak (king) over Yashar-Al (Israel) in Shamarawan (Samaria) for seventeen shanah (years).

2 He ishah (make) that which was rai (evil) in the iyan (eye) of Yahawah (), and yalak (followed) the chataath (sins) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam) the ban (son) of Nabat (Nebat), with which he made Yashar-Al (Israel) to chataa (sin); he didn't sawar (depart) from it.

3 The ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah () was charah (hot with anger) against Yashar-Al (Israel), and he nathan (give) them into the yad (hand) of Chazaal (Hazael) malak (king) of Aram (Syria), and into the yad (hand) of Banahadad (Benhadad) the ban (son) of Chazaal (Hazael), yawam (day).

4 Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) begged Yahawah (), and Yahawah () shamai (hearken / hear) to him; for he raah (see) the lachatz (oppression) of Yashar-Al (Israel), how that the malak (king) of Aram (Syria) lachatz (oppressed) them.

5 (Yahawah () nathan (give) Yashar-Al (Israel) a savior, so that they yatzaa (go out / come out) out from under the yad (hand) of the Aram (Syrians); and the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) lived in their ahal (tents) as shalashawam (before).

6 Nevertheless they didn't sawar (depart) from the chataawath (sins) of the bayath (house) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam), with which he made Yashar-Al (Israel) to chataa (sin), but halak (move) therein: and there imad (remained) the Asharah (Asherah) also in Shamarawan (Samaria).)

7 For he didn't shaar (leave) to Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) of the im (nation / people) any more than chamashayam (fifty) horsemen, and ishar (ten) rakab (chariots), and ishar (ten) alap (thousand) footmen; for the malak (king) of Aram (Syria) abad (destroy / perish) them, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) them like the ipar (dust) in dawash (threshing).

8 Now the yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz), and all that he ishah (make), and his gabawarah (might), aren't they kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the dabaray (chronicles) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel)?

9 Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) shakab (slept) with his ab (father); and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in Shamarawan (Samaria): and Yawaash (Joash) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.

10 In the shalawashayam (thirty) - shabai (seven) shanah (year) of Yawaash (Joash) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), Yahawaash (Jehoash) the ban (son) of Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) began to malak (king) over Yashar-Al (Israel) in Shamarawan (Samaria) for sixteen shanah (years).

11 He ishah (make) that which was rai (evil) in the iyan (eye) of Yahawah (); he didn't sawar (depart) from all the chataawath (sins) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam) the ban (son) of Nabat (Nebat), with which he made Yashar-Al (Israel) to chataa (sin); but he halak (move) therein.

12 Now the yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Yawaash (Joash), and all that he ishah (make), and his gabawarah (might) with which he lacham (fought) against Amatzayah (Amaziah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), aren't they kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the dabaray (chronicles) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel)?

13 Yawaash (Joash) shakab (slept) with his ab (father); and Yarabaim (Jeroboam) yashab (inhabit/dwell) on his kasaa (throne): and Yawaash (Joash) was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) in Shamarawan (Samaria) with the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

14 Now Alayashai (Elisha) was chalah (afflict) sick of his chalay (sickness) of which he mawath (death): and Yawaash (Joash) the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) yarad (came) down to him, and bakah (wept) over him, and amar (said), “My ab (father), my ab (father), the rakab (chariots) of Yashar-Al (Israel) and its horsemen!”

15 Alayashai (Elisha) amar (said) to him, “laqach (take / seize) qashath (bow) and chatzayam (arrows);” and he laqach (take / seize) to him qashath (bow) and chatzayam (arrows).

16 He amar (said) to the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), “rakab (put) your yad (hand) on the qashath (bow);” and he rakab (put) his yad (hand) on it. Alayashai (Elisha) shawam (place / establish / appoint) his yaday (hands) on the malak (king) yaday (hands).

17 He amar (spoke), “pathach (open) the chalawan (window) eastward;” and he pathach (opened) it. Then Alayashai (Elisha) amar (spoke), “yarah (shoot)!” And he yarah (shot). He amar (spoke), “Yahawah () chatz (arrow) of thashawaih (deliverance), even the chatz (arrow) of thashawaih (deliverance) over Aram (Syria); for you shall nakah (strike) the Aram (Syrians) in Apaq (Aphek), until you kalah (complete / finish) consumed them.”

18 He amar (said), “laqach (take / seize) the chatzayam (arrows);” and he laqach (take / seize) them. He amar (said) to the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), “nakah (strike) the aratz (Earth/land);” and he nakah (struck) shalawash (three) times, and stopped.

19 The ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () was qatzap (angry) with him, and amar (spoke), “You should have nakah (struck) chamash (five) or shash (six) paimayam (times). Then you would have nakah (struck) Aram (Syria) until you kalah (complete / finish) consumed it, whereas now you shall nakah (strike) Aram (Syria) just shalawash (three) times.”

20 Alayashai (Elisha) mawath (death), and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him. Now the gadawaday (bands) of the Mawaab (Moabites) bawaa (bring) the aratz (Earth/land) at the bawaa (bring) in of the shanah (year).

21 It happened, as they were qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) a ayash (man / husband), that raah (see / saw), they spied a gadawad (band); and they shalak (cast) the ayash (man / husband) into the tomb of Alayashai (Elisha): and as soon as the ayash (man / husband) nagai (touched) the itzamawath (bones) of Alayashai (Elisha), he chayah (revived), and qawam (rise up) up on his ragal (feet / foot).

22 Chazaal (Hazael) malak (king) of Aram (Syria) lachatz (oppressed) Yashar-Al (Israel) all the yamay (days) of Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz).

23 But Yahawah () was gracious to them, and racham (show mercy / love) compassion on them, and had panah (turn) to them, main (because) of his barayath (covenant) with Abaraham (Abraham), Yatzachaq (Isaac), and Yaiqab (Jacob), and would not shachath (destroy) them, neither shalak (cast) he them from his panayam (face) as yet.

24 Chazaal (Hazael) malak (king) of Aram (Syria) mawath (death); and Banahadad (Benhadad) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.

25 Yahawaash (Jehoash) the ban (son) of Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) laqach (take / seize) again out of the yad (hand) of Banahadad (Benhadad) the ban (son) of Chazaal (Hazael) the irayam (cities) which he had laqach (take / seize) out of the yad (hand) of Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) his ab (father) by malachamah (war). Yawaash (Joash) nakah (struck) him shalawash (three) paimayam (times), and shawab (turn) the irayam (cities) of Yashar-Al (Israel).
