2 Kings 25 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 It happened in the thashayaiy (ninth) shanah (year) of his malak (king), in the ishayaray (tenth) chadash (month), in the ishawar (tenth) day of the chadash (month), that Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) bawaa (bring), he and all his chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor), against Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and chanah (encamped) against it; and they banah (build) dayaq (forts) against it around it.

2 So the iyar (city) was bawaa (bring) to the ishathay (eleven) shanah (year) of malak (king) Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah).

3 On the thashai (nine) day of the fourth chadash (month) the raib (famine) was severe in the iyar (city), so that there was no lacham (bread) for the im (nation / people) of the aratz (Earth/land).

4 Then a baqai (breach) was made in the iyar (city), and all the anashay (men) of malachamah (war) fled by layal (night) by the darak (way) of the shair (gate) between the two chamathayam (walls), which was by the malak (king) gan (garden) (now the Kashaday (Chaldeans) were against the iyar (city) around it); and the king yalak (went) by the darak (way) of the irabah (arabah).

5 But the chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans) radap (pursued) achar (other) the malak (king), and overtook him in the irabawath (plains) of Yarayachaw (Jericho); and all his chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) was pawatz (scattered) from him.

6 Then they thapash (took) the malak (king), and ilah (go up / offer) him up to the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) to Rabalah (Riblah); and they dabar (word / matter) mashapat (judgment) on him.

7 They shachat (killed) the banay (my son) of Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah) before his iyanay (eyes), and iwar (put) out the iyanay (eyes) of Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah), and asar (bound) him in nachashathayam (fetters), and bawaa (bring) him to Babal (Babylon).

8 Now in the chamayashay (fifth) chadash (month), on the shabai (seven) day of the chadash (month), which was the nineteenth shanah (year) of malak (king) Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar), malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), bawaa (bring) Nabawazaraadan (Nebuzaradan) the rab (captain) of the tabach (guard), a ibad (servant) of the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

9 He burnt the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and the malak (king) bayath (house); and all the bathay (houses) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), even every gadawal (very great/important/mighty) bayath (house), burnt he with ash (fire).

10 All the chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans), who were with the rab (captain) of the tabach (guard), nathatz (broke) down the chawamath (walls) around Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

11 Nabawazaraadan (Nebuzaradan) the rab (captain) of the tabach (guard) galah (carried) away captive the yathar (residue) of the im (nation / people) who were shaar (left) in the iyar (city), and those who napal (fall / be cast down) away, who fell to the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), and the yathar (residue) of the hamawan (multitude).

12 But the rab (captain) of the tabach (guard) shaar (left) some of the poorest of the aratz (Earth/land) to karam (work) the vineyards and fields.

13 The Kashaday (Chaldeans) broke up the imawaday (pillars) of nachashath (brass) that were in the bayath (house) of Yahawah () and the makanawath (bases) and the bronze yam (sea/waters) that were in the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and nashaa (lift) the nachashath (brass) shabaraw (pieces) to Babal (Babylon).

14 They laqach (take / seize) away the sayarath (pots), the yaiyam (shovels), the mazamarawath (snuffers), the kapawath (spoons), and all the kalay (vessels) of nachashath (brass) with which they sharath (ministered).

15 The rab (captain) of the tabach (guard) laqach (take / seize) away the machathah (fire) pans, the basins, that which was of zahab (gold), in zahab (gold), and that which was of kasap (silver), in kasap (silver).

16 The shanayam (two) imawadayam (pillars), the achad (one) yam (sea/waters), and the makanawath (bases), which Shalamah (Solomon) ishah (make) made for the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), the nachashath (brass) of all these kalayam (vessels) was laa (NOT) mashaqal (weight).

17 The qawamah (height) of the achad (one) imawad (pillar) was eighteen amah (cubits), and a capital of nachashath (brass) was on it; and the qawamah (height) of the capital was shalawash (three) amah (cubits), with shabakah (network) and ramanayam (pomegranates) on the capital around it, all of nachashath (brass): and like to these had the shanay (second) imawad (pillar) with shabakah (network).

18 The rab (captain) of the tabach (guard) laqach (take / seize) Sharayah (Seraiah) the raash (head) kahan (priest), and Tzapanayah (Zephaniah) the mashanah (second) kahan (priest), and the shalawash (three) keepers of the sap (threshold):

19 And out of the iyar (city) he laqach (take / seize) an sarayas (officer) who paqayad (was) set over the achad (one) of malachamah (war); and chamash (five) achad (one) of those who raah (see / saw) the malak (king) raah (see / saw), who were matzaa (found) in the iyar (city); and the sapar (book), the shar (prince / ruler) of the tzabaa (troop), who tzabaa (troop) the im (nation / people) of the aratz (Earth/land); and shashayam (sixty) anashay (men) of the im (nation / people) of the aratz (Earth/land), who were matzaa (found) in the iyar (city).

20 Nabawazaraadan (Nebuzaradan) the rab (captain) of the tabach (guard) laqach (take / seize) them, and yalak (brought) them to the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) to Rabalah (Riblah).

21 The malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) nakah (struck) them, and put them to mawath (death) at Rabalah (Riblah) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Chamath (Hamath). So Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) was galah (carried) away captive out of his adamah (land).

22 As for the im (nation / people) who were shaar (left) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), whom Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) had shaar (left), even over them he made Gadalayah (Gedaliah) the ban (son) of Achayaqam (Ahikam), the ban (son) of Shapan (Shaphan), governor.

23 Now when all the sharay (captains) of the chayalayam (forces), they and their chayalayam (men), shamai (hearken / hear) that the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) had made Gadalayah (Gedaliah) governor, they bawaa (bring) to Gadalayah (Gedaliah) to Matzapah (Mizpah), even Yashamaial (Ishmael) the ban (son) of Nathanayah (Nethaniah), and Yawachanan (Johanan) the ban (son) of Qarach (Kareah), and Sharayah (Seraiah) the ban (son) of Thanachamath (Tanhumeth) the Natapathay (Netophathite), and Yaazanayah (Jaazaniah) the ban (son) of the Maikathay (Maacathite), they and their chayalayam (men).

24 Gadalayah (Gedaliah) shabai (swear / take oath) to them and to their ayash (man / husband), and amar (said) to them, “Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid) because of the ibaday (servant of) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans). Yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the aratz (Earth/land), and ibad (servant) the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), and it shall be yatab (well) with you.”

25 But it happened in the shabayaiy (seventh) chadash (month), that Yashamaial (Ishmael) the ban (son) of Nathanayah (Nethaniah), the ban (son) of Alayashamai (Elishama), of the malawakah (royal) zarai (seed) bawaa (bring), and ishar (ten) ban (son) with him, and nakah (struck) Gadalayah (Gedaliah), so that he mawath (death), and the Yahawaday (Jews) and the Kashaday (Chaldeans) that were with him at Matzapah (Mizpah).

26 All the im (nation / people), both qatan (small / young / least) and gadawal (very great/important/mighty), and the sharay (captains) of the chayalayam (forces), qawam (rise up), and bawaa (bring) to Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt); for they were yaraa (fear / be afraid) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans).

27 It happened in the shalawashayam (thirty) shabai (seven) shanah (year) of the galawath (captivity) of Yahawayakayan (Jehoiachin) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), in the shanayam (two) chadash (month), on the shabai (seven) and isharayam (twenty) day of the chadash (month), that awayalamaradak (evilmerodach) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), in the shanah (year) that he began to malak (king), nashaa (lift) up the raash (head) of Yahawayakayan (Jehoiachin) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) out of bayath (house);

28 And he dabar (word / matter) tawab (good / proper function) to him, and nathan (give) his kasaa (throne) above the kasaa (throne) of the malakayam (kings) who were with him in Babal (Babylon),

29 And shanaa (hate) his kalaa (prison) bagaday (garments). Yahawayakayan (Jehoiachin) akal (eat) lacham (bread) panayam (face) him continually all the yamay (days) of his chay (life):

30 And for his arachah (allowance), there was a thamayad (continual) arachah (allowance) nathan (give) him of the malak (king), every yawam (day) a dabar (word / matter), all the yamay (days) of his chay (life).
