1 The banay (my son) of the nabayaayam (prophets) amar (said) to Alayashai (Elisha), “See now, the maqawam (place) where we yashab (inhabit/dwell) before you is too tzar (oppressor / distressor) for us.
2 Please yalak (let) us go to the Yaradan (Jordan), and every ayash (man / husband) laqach (take / seize) a qawarah (beam) from there, and let us ishah (make) us a maqawam (place) there, where we may yashab (inhabit/dwell).” He amar (said), “yalak (go)!”
3 Achad (one) amar (said), “yaal (please) be pleased to yalak (go) with your ibad (servant).” He amar (said), “I will yalak (go).”
4 So he yalak (went) with them. When they bawaa (bring) to the Yaradan (Jordan), they gazar (cut) down itz (wood).
5 But as achad (one) was napal (fall / be cast down) a qawarah (beam), the axe barazal (head) napal (fall / be cast down) into the mayam (Waters). Then he tzaiq (cried), and amar (said), “ahah (alas), my adawan (master / lord)! For it was shaal (borrowed).”
6 The ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () asked, “an (where) did it napal (fall / be cast down)?” He showed him the maqawam (place). He qatzab (cut) down a itz (stick), shalak (threw) it in there, and made the barazal (iron) float.
7 He amar (said), “rawam (will lift up) it.” So he shalach (send) out his yad (hand) and laqach (take / seize) it.
8 Now the malak (king) of Aram (Syria) was lacham (warring) against Yashar-Al (Israel); and he took yaitz (counsel) with his ibad (servant), amar (said), “My thachanah (camp) will be in such and such a maqawam (place).”
9 The ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () shalach (send) to the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (spoke), “Beware that you not ibar (pass over/through) such a maqawam (place); for the Aram (Syrians) are nachath (coming) down there.”
10 The malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shalach (send) to the maqawam (place) which the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () amar (spoke) him and zahar (warn) him of; and he shamar (keep/guard) himself there, not achad (one) nor shanayam (two).
11 The lab (heart) of the malak (king) of Aram (Syria) was very sair (troubled) about this. He qaraa (called) his ibad (servant), and amar (said) to them, “Won't you show me which of us is for the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel)?”
12 Achad (one) of his ibad (servant) amar (spoke), “No, my Adawan (), O malak (king); but Alayashai (Elisha), the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) who is in Yashar-Al (Israel), nagad (tells) the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) the dabarayam (words) that you dabar (word / matter) in your bedroom.”
13 He amar (said), “yalak (go) and raah (see / saw) ayakah (where) he is, that I may shalach (send) and laqach (take / seize) him.” It was nagad (told) him, amar (said), “Behold, he is in Dathan (Dothan).”
14 Therefore he shalach (send) sawasayam (horses), rakab (chariots), and a kabad (great) chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) there. They bawaa (bring) by layal (night), and surrounded the iyar (city).
15 When the sharath (servant) of the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () had qawam (rise up) shakam (early), and yatzaa (go out / come out) out, behold, an chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) with sawas (horses) and rakab (chariots) was around the iyar (city). His nair (servant) amar (spoke) to him, “ahah (alas), my adawan (master / lord)! What shall we ishah (make)?”
16 He amar (said), “Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid); for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 Alayashai (Elisha) palal (prayed), and amar (spoke), “Yahawah (), please paqach (open) his iyanay (eyes), that he may raah (see).” Yahawah () paqach (opened) the iyanay (eyes) of the nair (young) man; and he raah (see): and behold, the har (mountain) was malaa (full) of sawasayam (horses) and rakab (chariots) of ash (fire) around Alayashai (Elisha).
18 When they yarad (came) down to him, Alayashai (Elisha) palal (prayed) to Yahawah (), and amar (spoke), “Please nakah (strike) this gaway (heathen / nation) with sanawar (blindness).” He nakah (struck) them with sanawar (blindness) according to the dabar (word / matter) of Alayashai (Elisha).
19 Alayashai (Elisha) amar (spoke) to them, "This is not the darak (way), neither is zah (this) the iyar (city). Yalak (follow) me, and I will yalak (bring) you to the ayash (man) whom you baqash (seek)." He yalak (led) them to Shamarawan (Samaria).
20 It happened, when they bawaa (come) come into Shamarawan (Samaria), that Alayashai (Elisha) amar (spoke), “Yahawah (), paqach (open) the iyanay (eyes) of these men, that they may raah (see).” Yahawah () paqach (opened) their iyanay (eyes), and they raah (see); and behold, they were in the thawak (midst) of Shamarawan (Samaria).
21 The malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) amar (said) to Alayashai (Elisha), when he raah (see / saw) them, “My ab (father), shall I nakah (strike) them? Shall I nakah (strike) them?”
22 He amar (said), “You shall not nakah (strike) them. Would you nakah (strike) those whom you have shabah (taken) captive with your charab (sword) and with your qashath (bow)? Shawam (place / establish / appoint) lacham (bread) and mayam (Waters) panayam (face) them, that they may akal (eat) and shathah (drinks), and yalak (go) to their adawan (master / lord).”
23 He karah (prepared) gadawal (very great/important/mighty) feast for them. When they had akal (eat) and shathah (drinks), he shalach (send) them away, and they yalak (went) to their adawan (master / lord). The gadawaday (bands) of Aram (Syria) stopped raiding the aratz (Earth/land) of Yashar-Al (Israel).
24 It happened achar (other) this, that Banahadad (Benhadad) malak (king) of Aram (Syria) qabatz (gathered) all his machanah (army), and ilah (go up / offer) up and tzawar (besieged) Shamarawan (Samaria).
25 There was a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) raib (famine) in Shamarawan (Samaria). Behold, they tzawar (besieged) it, until a donkey's raash (head) was sold for shamanayam (eighty) pieces of kasap (silver), and the rabai (fourth) part of a kab of yawanayam (doves) dung for chamash (five) pieces of kasap (silver).
26 As the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) was ibar (pass over/through) by on the chawamah (wall), a ayashah (woman / wife) tzaiq (cried) to him, amar (spoke), “yashai (salvation), my Adawan (), O malak (king)!”
27 He amar (spoke), “If Yahawah () doesn't yashai (salvation) you, from ayan (NO ONE) could I yashai (salvation) you? From of the garan (threshing) floor, or from the yaqab (winepress)?”
28 The malak (king) amar (said) to her, “What ails you?” She amar (said), “This ayashah (woman / wife) amar (said) to me, ‘nathan (give) your ban (son), that we may akal (eat) him today, and we will akal (eat) my ban (son) machar (tomorrow).’
29 So we bashal (boiled) my ban (son), and akal (eat) him: and I amar (said) to her on the achar (other) yawam (day), ‘nathan (give) your ban (son), that we may akal (eat) him;’ and she has chabaa (hidden) her ban (son).”
30 It happened, when the malak (king) shamai (hearken / hear) the dabaray (words) of the ayashah (woman / wife), that he qarai (tore) his clothes (now he was ibar (pass over/through) by on the chawamah (wall)); and the im (nation / people) raah (see / saw), and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his bashar (flesh).
31 Then he amar (spoke), “Alahayam () ishah (make) so to me, and more also, if the raash (head) of Alayashai (Elisha) the ban (son) of Shapat (Shaphat) shall imad (stay) on him this yawam (day).”
32 But Alayashai (Elisha) was sitting in his bayath (house), and the zaqanayam (elders) were sitting with him. Then the king shalach (send) a ayash (man / husband) from panayam (face) him; but before the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) bawaa (bring) to him, he amar (said) to the zaqanayam (elders), “Do you raah (see / saw) how this ban (son) of a ratzach (murderer) has shalach (send) to sawar (take) away my raash (head)? Raah (see / saw), when the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) bawaa (bring), sagar (shut) the dalath (door), and hold the dalath (door) shut against him. Isn't the qawal (sound / voice) of his adawan (master / lord) ragalay (feet) achar (other) him?”
33 While he was still dabar (word / matter) with them, behold, the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) yarad (came) down to him. Then he amar (spoke), “Behold, this rai (evil) is from Yahawah (). Why should I yachal (wait) for Yahawah () any longer?”
