1 Chronicles 5 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 The banay (my son) of Raawaban (Reuben) the bakawar (firstborn) of Yashar-Al (Israel) (for he was the bakawar (firstborn); but, because he chalal (defiled) his ab (father) yatzawai (couch), his bakawarah (birthright) was nathan (give) to the banay (my son) of Yawasap (Joseph) the ban (son) of Yashar-Al (Israel); and the yachash (genealogy) is not to be reckoned after the bakawarah (birthright).

2 For Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) gabar (prevailed) above his ach (brother/kinsman), and of him came the nagayad (prince); but the bakawarah (birthright) was Yawasap (Joseph's):)

3 The banay (my son) of Raawaban (Reuben) the bakawar (firstborn) of Yashar-Al (Israel): Chanawak (Chanawak / Enoch), and Palawaa (Pallu), Chatzarawan (Hezron), and Karamay (Carmi).

4 The banay (my son) of Yawaal (Joel): Shamaiyah (Shemaiah) his ban (son), Gawag (Gog) his ban (son), Shamaiy (Shimei) his ban (son),

5 Mayakah (Micah) his ban (son), Raayah (Reaiah) his ban (son), Bail (Baal) his ban (son),

6 Baarah (Beerah) his ban (son), whom Thagalathapalaasar (Tilgath Pilneser) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) galah (carried) away captive: he was nashayaa (prince) of the Raawabanay (Reubenites).

7 His ach (brother/kinsman) by their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family), when the yachash (genealogy) of their thawaladah (generation) was yachash (reckoned): the raash (head), Yaiyaal (Jeiel), and Zakarayah (Zechariah),

8 And Balai (Bela) the ban (son) of Izaz (Azaz), the ban (son) of Shamai (Shema), the ban (son) of Yawaal (Joel), who lived in Irawair (Aroer), even to Nabaw (Nebo) and Bailamaiwan (Baal Meon):

9 And eastward he lived even to the entrance of the madabar (wilderness) from the nahar (river) Parath (Euphrates), because their livestock were rabah (multiplied) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Galaid (Gilead).

10 In the yamay (days) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), they ishah (make) malachamah (war) with the Hagaray (Hagrites), who napal (fall / be cast down) by their yad (hand); and they lived in their ahal (tents) throughout all the land mazarach (east) of Galaid (Gilead).

11 The banay (my son) of Gad (Gad) lived over against them, in the aratz (Earth/land) of Bashan (Bashan) to Salakah (Salecah):

12 Yawaal (Joel) the raash (head), and Shapam (Shapham) the mashanah (second), and Yainay (Janai), and Shapat (judge / judgement) in Bashan (Bashan).

13 Their ach (brother/kinsman) of their ab (father)’ bayath (house): Mayakaal (Michael), and Mashalam (Meshullam), and shabai (sheba), and Yawaray (Jorai), and Yaikan (Jacan), and Zayai (Zia), and Ibar (Eber), shabai (seven).

14 These were the banay (my son) of Abayahayal (Abihail), the ban (son) of Chawaray (Huri), the ban (son) of Yarawach (Jaroah), the ban (son) of Galaid (Gilead), the ban (son) of Mayakaal (Michael), the ban (son) of Yashayashay (Jeshishai), the ban (son) of Yachadaw (Jahdo), the ban (son) of Bawaz (Buz);

15 Achay (Ahi) the ban (son) of Ibadayaal (Abdiel), the ban (son) of Gawanay (Guni), raash (head) of their ab (father)’ bayath (house).

16 They lived in Galaid (Gilead) in Bashan (Bashan), and in its banath (daughter), and in all the magarashay (suburbs) of Sharawan (Sharon), as far as their thawatzaah (borders).

17 All these were yachash (reckoned) by genealogies in the yamay (days) of Yawatham (Jotham) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and in the yamay (days) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam) malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

18 The banay (my son) of Raawaban (Reuben), and the Gaday (Gadites), and the half-tribe of Manashah (Manasseh), of valiant banay (my son), chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) nashaa (lift) to bear magan (shield) and charab (sword), and to shoot with qashath (bow), and skillful in malachamah (war), were arabaiyam (forty) - arabai (four) alap (thousand) shabai (seven) maah (hundred) and shashayam (sixty), that were yatzaa (go out / come out) to go forth to tzabaa (troop).

19 They ishah (make) malachamah (war) with the Hagaray (Hagrites), with Yatawar (Jetur), and Napayash (Naphish), and Nawadab (Nodab).

20 They were izar (helped) against them, and the Hagaray (Hagrites) were nathan (give) into their yad (hand), and all who were with them; for they zaiq (cried) to Alahayam () in the malachamah (battle), and he was entreated of them, because they batach (put) their trust in him.

21 They shabah (took) away their livestock; of their gamal (camels) chamashayam (fifty) alap (thousand), and of tzaan (sheep) two maah (hundred) chamashayam (fifty) alap (thousand), and of donkeys two alap (thousand), and of adam (men) one maah (hundred) alap (thousand).

22 For there napal (fall / be cast down) many chalal (slain), because the malachamah (war) was of Alahayam (). They lived in their place until the gawalah (captivity).

23 The banay (my son) of the half-tribe of Manashah (Manasseh) lived in the aratz (Earth/land): they rabah (increased) from Bashan (Bashan) to Bailacharamawan (Baal Hermon) and Shanayar (Senir) and har (mountain) Bailacharamawan (Hermon).

24 These were the raashay (heads) of their ab (father)’ bayath (house): even Ipar (Epher), and Yashaiy (Ishi), and Alayaal (Eliel), and Izarayaal (Azriel), and Yaramayah (Jeremiah), and Hawadawayah (Hodaviah), and Yachadayaal (Jahdiel), gabawar (mighty) raashay (men) of valor, sham (name) raashay (men), raashay (heads) of their ab (father)’ bayath (house).

25 They mail (top/above) against the Alahayam () of their ab (father), and zanah (played) the prostitute achar (other) the Alahayam () of the imay (peoples) of the aratz (Earth/land), whom Alahayam () destroyed panayam (face) them.

26 The Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel) iwar (rouse / awaken) up the rawach (spirit / wind) of Pawal (Pul) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), and the rawach (spirit / wind) of Thagalathapalaasar (Tilgath Pilneser) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), and he galah (carried) them away, even the Raawabanay (Reubenites), and the Gaday (Gadites), and the half-tribe of Manashah (Manasseh), and bawaa (come) them to Chalach (Halah), and Chabawar (Habor), and Haraa (Hara), and to the nahar (river) of Gawazan (Gozan), to this yawam (day).
