2 Chronicles 13 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 In the eighteenth shanah (year) of malak (king) Yarabaim (Jeroboam) began Abayah (Abijah) to malak (king) over Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah).

2 He malak (king) shalawash (three) shanayam (two) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem): and his am (mother) sham (name) was Mayakayahaw (Micaiah) the banath (daughter) of Awarayaal (Uriel) of Gabaih (Gibeah). There was malachamah (war) between Abayah (Abijah) and Yarabaim (Jeroboam).

3 Abayah (Abijah) joined malachamah (battle) with an chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) of gabawar (valiant) men of malachamah (war), even arabai (four) maah (hundred) alap (thousand) bachar (chosen) gabawaray (men): and Yarabaim (Jeroboam) set the malachamah (battle) in irak (array) against him with shamanah (eight) maah (hundred) alap (thousand) bachar (chosen) ayash (man / husband), who were ayash (man / husband) men of valor.

4 Abayah (Abijah) qawam (rise up) up on har (mountain) Tzamarayam (Zemaraim), which is in the har (mountain) country of Aparayam (Ephraim), and amar (said), “shamai (hearken / hear) me, Yarabaim (Jeroboam) and all Yashar-Al (Israel):

5 Ought you not to yadai (know) that Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), nathan (give) the mamalakah (kingdom) over Yashar-Al (Israel) to Dawad (David) iwalam (forever), even to him and to his ban (son) by a barayath (covenant) of malach (salt)?

6 Yet Yarabaim (Jeroboam) the ban (son) of Nabat (Nebat), the ibad (servant) of Shalamah (Solomon) the ban (son) of Dawad (David), qawam (rise up) up, and marad (rebelled) against his Adawan ().

7 There were qabatz (gathered) to him worthless anashayam (men), base anashayam (fellows), who amatz (strengthened) themselves against Rachabaim (Rehoboam) the ban (son) of Shalamah (Solomon - Patriarch), when Rachabaim (Rehoboam) was nair (young) and rak (tenderhearted), and could not chazaq (withstand) them.

8 “Now you amar (spoke) to chazaq (withstand) the panayam (face) of Yahawah () in the yad (hand) of the banay (sons) of Dawad (David); and you are a rab (great) hamawan (multitude), and there are with you the zahab (gold) calves which Yarabaim (Jeroboam) ishah (make) you for Alahayam ().

9 Haven't you nadach (driven) out the kahanay (priests) of Yahawah (), the banay (sons) of Aharawan (Aaron), and the Lawayay (Levites), and ishah (make) kahanay (priests) for yourselves after the ways of the imay (peoples) of other aratzawath (lands)? So that whoever bawaa (come) to malaa (consecrate) himself with a ban (son) par (bull) and shabai (seven) ayalam (rams), the same may be a kahan (priest) of those who are no Alahayam ().

10 “But as for us, Yahawah () is our Alahayam (), and we have not forsaken him; and we have kahanayam (priests) sharath (ministering) to Yahawah (), the banay (sons) of Aharawan (Aaron), and the Lawayay (Levites) in their malaakah (work):

11 And they qatar (burn) to Yahawah () every baqar (morning) and every irab (evening) burnt ilawath (offerings) and sam (sweet) qatarath (incense). They also set the show lacham (bread) in order on the tahawar (pure) shalachan (table); and the lampstand of zahab (gold) with its nayar (lamps), to bair (burn) every irab (evening): for we shamar (keep/guard) the instruction of Yahawah () our Alahayam (); but you have forsaken him.

12 Behold, Alahayam () is with us at our raash (head), and his kahan (priest) with the chatzatzarawath (trumpets) of rawai (alarm) to rawai (sound) an alarm against you. Banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), don't lacham (fight) against Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of your ab (father); for you shall not tzalach (prosper).”

13 But Yarabaim (Jeroboam) caused an maarab (ambush) to bawaa (bring) sabab (about) achar (other) them: so they were panayam (face) Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and the maarab (ambush) was achar (other) them.

14 When Yahawadah (Judah) panah (turn) back, behold, the malachamah (battle) panayam (face) before and achawar (behind) them; and they tzaiq (cried) to Yahawah (), and the kahanayam (priests) chatzar (sounded) with the chatzatzarawath (trumpets).

15 Then the ayash (man / husband) of Yahawadah (Judah) gave a rawai (shout): and as the ayash (man / husband) of Yahawadah (Judah) rawai (shouted), it happened, that Alahayam () nagap (struck) Yarabaim (Jeroboam) and all Yashar-Al (Israel) panayam (face) Abayah (Abijah) and Yahawadah (Judah).

16 The banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) nawas (fled) panayam (face) Yahawadah (Judah); and Alahayam () nathan (give) them into their yad (hand).

17 Abayah (Abijah) and his im (nation / people) nakah (killed) them with a rab (great) makah (slaughter): so there napal (fall / be cast down) down chalal (slain) of Yashar-Al (Israel) chamash (five) maah (hundred) alap (thousand) bachar (chosen) ayash (man / husband).

18 Thus the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) were kanai (brought) under at that ith (time), and the banay (children) of Yahawadah (Judah) amatz (prevailed), because they shain (relied) on Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of their ab (father).

19 Abayah (Abijah) radap (pursued) achar (other) Yarabaim (Jeroboam), and lakad (took) irayam (cities) from him, Bayath-Al (Bethel) with its banath (daughter), and Yashanah (Jeshanah) with its banath (daughter), and Iparawan (Ephron) with its banath (daughter).

20 Yarabaim (Jeroboam) didn't itzar (recover) kach (strength / mighty / power) again in the yamay (days) of Abayah (Abijah). Yahawah () nagap (struck) him, and he mawath (death).

21 But Abayah (Abijah) grew chazaq (mighty), and nashaa (lift) to himself fourteen wives, and became the yalad (birth / begot) of isharayam (twenty) - shanayam (two) banayam (sons), and sixteen banawath (daughters).

22 The yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Abayah (Abijah), and his darak (ways), and his dabaray (sayings), are kathab (write) in the commentary of the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) Idaw (Iddo).
