2 Chronicles 21 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) shakab (slept) with his ab (father), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) with his ab (father) in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David): and Yahawaram (Jehoram) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.

2 He had achayam (brothers), the banay (my son) of Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat): Izarayah (Azariah), and Yachayaal (Jehiel), and Zakarayah (Zechariah), and Izarayah (Azariah), and Mayakaal (Michael), and Shapatayah (Shephatiah); all these were the banay (my son) of Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

3 Their ab (father) nathan (give) them rab (great) mathanawath (gifts), of kasap (silver), and of zahab (gold), and of magadanah (precious) things, with fortified iray (cities) in Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah): but the mamalakah (kingdom) nathan (give) he to Yahawaram (Jehoram), because he was the bakawar (firstborn).

4 Now when Yahawaram (Jehoram) was qawam (rise up) up over the mamalakah (kingdom) of his ab (father), and had chazaq (strengthened) himself, he harag (kill) all his ach (brother/kinsman) with the charab (sword), and various also of the sharay (princes) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

5 Yahawaram (Jehoram) was shalawashayam (thirty) - shanayam (two) shanayam (two) ban (son) when he began to malak (king); and he malak (king) shamanah (eight) shanayam (two) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

6 He yalak (walked) in the darak (way) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel), as ishah (make) the bayath (house) of Achaab (Ahab); for he had the banath (daughter) of Achaab (Ahab) as ayashah (woman / wife): and he ishah (make) that which was rai (evil) in the iyan (eye) of Yahawah ().

7 However Yahawah () would not shachath (destroy) the bayath (house) of Dawad (David), because of the barayath (covenant) that he had karath (cut) with Dawad (David), and as he amar (spoke) to nathan (give) a nayar (lamp) to him and to his ban (son) yamayam (always).

8 In his yawam (day) Adawam (Edom) pashai (revolted) from under the yad (hand) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and malak (king) a malak (king) over themselves.

9 Then Yahawaram (Jehoram) ibar (pass over/through) over with his sharay (captains), and all his rakab (chariots) with him: and he qawam (rise up) up by layal (night), and nakah (struck) the Adawam (Edomites) who surrounded him, along with the sharay (captains) of the rakab (chariots).

10 So Adawam (Edom) pashai (revolted) from under the yad (hand) of Yahawadah (Judah) to this yawam (day): then Labanah (Libnah) pashai (revolted) at the same ith (time) from under his yad (hand), because he had forsaken Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of his ab (father).

11 Moreover he ishah (make) bamah (high) places in the haray (mountains) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and yashab (inhabit/dwell) the inhabitants of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) to zanah (play) the prostitute, and led Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) astray.

12 A letter bawaa (come) to him from Alayah (Elijah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy), amar (spoke), “Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Dawad (David) your ab (father), ‘Because you have not halak (move) in the darakay (ways) of Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) your ab (father), nor in the darakay (ways) of Asaa (Asa) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah),

13 But have yalak (walked) in the darak (way) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and have made Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and the yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) to zanah (play) the prostitute, like the bayath (house) of Achaab (Ahab) did, and also have harag (kill) your ach (brother/kinsman) of your ab (father) bayath (house), who were tawab (good / proper function) than yourself:

14 Behold, Yahawah () will nagap (strike) with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) magapah (plague) your im (nation / people), and your ban (son), and your wives, and all your rakawash (wealth / property / goods / possessions);

15 And you shall rab (have) great chalay (sickness) by machalah (disease) of your maih (bowels), until your maih (bowels) yatzaa (go out / come out) out by reason of the chalay (sickness), yawam (day) by yawam (day).’”

16 Yahawah () iwar (rouse / awaken) up against Yahawaram (Jehoram) the rawach (spirit / wind) of the Palashathay (Philistines), and of the Irabay (Arabians) who are il (over) the Kawashay (Ethiopians):

17 And they ilah (go up / offer) up against Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and baqai (broke) into it, and shabah (carried) away all the rakawash (wealth / property / goods / possessions) that was matzaa (found) in the malak (king) bayath (house), and his ban (son) also, and his wives; so that there was never a ban (son) shaar (left) him, except Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz), the youngest of his ban (son).

18 Achar (other) all this Yahawah () nagap (struck) him in his maih (bowels) with an ayan (NO ONE) chalay (disease).

19 It happened, in process of yawam (day), at the qatz (end) of shanayam (two) yamayam (years), that his maih (bowels) yatzaa (go out / come out) out by reason of his chalay (sickness), and he mawath (death) of severe thachalaayam (diseases). His im (nation / people) ishah (make) no sharapah (burning) for him, like the sharapah (burning) of his ab (father).

20 Shalawashayam (thirty) - shanayam (two) years ban (son) was he when he began to malak (king), and he malak (king) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) shamanah (eight) shanayam (two): and he departed without being chamadah (desired); and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), but not in the tombs of the malakayam (kings).
