2 Chronicles 24 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Yawaash (Joash) was shabai (seven) shanayam (two) ban (son) when he began to malak (king); and he malak (king) arabaiyam (forty) shanayam (two) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem): and his am (mother) sham (name) was Tzabayah (Zibiah), of Baar-Shabai (Beersheba).

2 Yawaash (Joash) ishah (make) that which was yashar (upright) in the iyanay (eyes) of Yahawah () all the yamay (days) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the kahan (priest).

3 Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) nashaa (lift) for him shanayam (two) wives; and he became the yalad (birth / begot) of banayam (sons) and banawath (daughters).

4 It happened achar (other) this, that Yawaash (Joash) intended to chadash (restore) the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

5 He qabatz (gathered) together the kahanayam (priests) and the Lawayay (Levites), and amar (spoke) to them, “yatzaa (go out / come out) out to the iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Judah), and qabatz (gather) kasap (money) to chazaq (repair) the bayath (house) of your Alahayam () from all Yashar-Al (Israel) from shanah (year) to shanah (year). See that you expedite this dabar (word / matter).” However the Lawayay (Levites) didn't do it right away.

6 The malak (king) qaraa (called) for Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the raash (head), and amar (spoke) to him, “Why haven't you darash (required) of the Lawayay (Levites) to bawaa (come) in the tax of Mashah (Moses) the ibad (servant) of Yahawah (), and of the qahal (assembly) of Yashar-Al (Israel), out of Yahawadah (Judah) and out of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), for the ahal (tent) of the idawath (testimony)?”

7 For the ban (son) of Ithalayah (Athaliah), that marashaith (wicked) woman, had paratz (broken) up the bayath (house) of Alahayam (); and they also gave all the qadash (set apart / make holy) things of the bayath (house) of Yahawah () to the Bail (Baals).

8 So the malak (king) commanded, and they ishah (make) a arawan (chest), and nathan (give) it outside at the shair (gate) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

9 They nathan (give) a qawal (sound / voice) through Yahawadah (Judah) and Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), to bawaa (come) in for Yahawah () the tax that Mashah (Moses) the ibad (servant) of Alahayam () laid on Yashar-Al (Israel) in the madabar (wilderness).

10 All the sharayam (princes) and all the im (nation / people) shamach (rejoiced), and bawaa (bring) in, and shalak (cast) into the arawan (chest), until they kalah (complete / finish) made an end.

11 It was so, that whenever the arawan (chest) was bawaa (bring) to the malak (king) paqadah (officers) by the yad (hand) of the Lawayay (Levites), and when they raah (see / saw) that there was much kasap (money), the malak (king) sapar (book) and the raash (head) kahan (priest) officer bawaa (bring) and irah (emptied) the arawan (chest), and nashaa (lift) it, and nashaa (lift) it to its maqawam (place) again. Thus they ishah (make) yawam (day) by yawam (day), and asap (gathered) kasap (money) in rab (abundance).

12 The malak (king) and Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) nathan (give) it to such as ishah (make) the malaakah (work) of the ibadah (service) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (); and they shakar (hired) chatzabayam (masons) and charashayam (carpenters) to chadash (restore) the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and also such as worked barazal (iron) and nachashath (brass) to chazaq (repair) the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

13 So the workmen ishah (make), and the malaakah (work) of repairing went forward in their yad (hand), and they imad (set) up the bayath (house) of Alahayam () in its mathakanath (state), and amatz (strengthened) it.

14 When they kalah (complete / finish) made an end, they bawaa (come) the shaar (rest) of the kasap (money) panayam (face) the malak (king) and Yahawayadai (Jehoiada), of which were ishah (make) kalayam (vessels) for the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), even kalayam (vessels) with which to sharath (minister) and to ilah (go up / offer), and kapawath (spoons), and kalayam (vessels) of zahab (gold) and kasap (silver). They ilah (go up / offer) burnt ilawath (offerings) in the bayath (house) of Yahawah () continually all the yamay (days) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada).

15 But Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) grew zaqan (old) and was shabai (full) of yamayam (days), and he mawath (death); one maah (hundred) shalawashayam (thirty) shanah (years) ban (son) was he when he mawath (death).

16 They qabar (bury) him in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David) among the malakayam (kings), because he ishah (make) done tawab (good / proper function) in Yashar-Al (Israel), and toward Alahayam () and his bayath (house).

17 Now achar (other) the mawath (death) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) bawaa (bring) the sharay (princes) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and shachah (made) obeisance to the malak (king). Then the malak (king) shamai (hearken / hear) to them.

18 They forsook the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of their ab (father), and ibad (servant) the Asharah (Asherim) and the itzabayam (idols): and qatzap (wrath) came on Yahawadah (Judah) and Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) for this their guiltiness.

19 Yet he shalach (send) nabaayam (prophets) to them, to shawab (turn back / repent) them again to Yahawah (); and they iwad (admonish/bear witness against) against them: but they would not azan (ear) ear.

20 The rawach (spirit / wind) of Alahayam () labash (came) on Zakarayah (Zechariah) the ban (son) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the kahan (priest); and he imad (stood) above the im (nation / people), and amar (spoke) to them, “Thus amar (spoke) Alahayam (), ‘Why ibar (pass over/through) you disobey the matzawath (commandments) of Yahawah (), so that you can't tzalach (prosper)? Because you have forsaken Yahawah (), he has also forsaken you.’”

21 They qashar (conspired) against him, and ragam (stoned) him with aban (stone) at the matzawah (commandment) of the malak (king) in the chatzar (court) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

22 Thus Yawaash (Joash) the malak (king) didn't zakar (remember) the chasad (grace) which Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) his ab (father) ishah (make) done to him, but harag (kill) his ban (son). When he mawath (death), he amar (spoke), “May Yahawah () raah (see) at it, and repay it.”

23 It happened at the thaqawapah (end) of the shanah (year), that the chayal (army) of the Aram (Syrians) ilah (go up / offer) up bawaa (bring) him: and they came to Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and shachath (destroyed) all the sharay (princes) of the im (nation / people) from among the im (nation / people), and shalach (send) all their shalal (spoil) to the malak (king) of Damashaq (Damascus).

24 For the chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) of the Aram (Syrians) bawaa (come) with a matzair (small) company of anashayam (men); and Yahawah () nathan (give) a very rab (great) chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) into their yad (hand), because they had forsaken Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of their ab (father). So they ishah (make) shapat (judge / judgement) on Yawaash (Joash).

25 When they were departed for him (for they izab (left) him very sick), his own ibad (servant) qashar (conspired) against him for the dam (blood) of the banay (my son) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) the kahan (priest), and harag (kill) him on his matah (bed), and he mawath (death); and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), but they didn't qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in the tombs of the malakayam (kings).

26 These are those who qashar (conspired) against him: Zabad (Zabad) the ban (son) of Shamaith (Shimeath) the imawanayath (ammonitess), and Yahawazabad (Jehozabad) the ban (son) of Shamarayath (Shimrith) the Moabitess.

27 Now concerning his ban (son), and the greatness of the mashaa (burdens) laid on him, and the rebuilding of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (), behold, they are kathab (write) in the commentary of the sapar (book / scribed document) of the malakayam (kings). Amatzayah (Amaziah) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.
