2 Chronicles 32 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Achar (other) these things, and this amath (truth), Sanacharayab (Sennacherib) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) bawaa (bring), and bawaa (bring) into Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and chanah (encamped) against the batzar (fortified) irayam (cities), and amar (said) to baqai (win) them for himself.

2 When Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) raah (see / saw) that Sanacharayab (Sennacherib) bawaa (bring) come, and that he panayam (face) purposed to malachamah (fight) against Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem),

3 He took yaitz (counsel) with his shar (prince / ruler) and his gabawar (mighty) men to satham (stop) the mayamay (waters) of the springs which were outside of the iyar (city); and they izar (helped) him.

4 So many im (nation / people) qabatz (gathered) qabatz (together), and they satham (stopped) all the maiyanawath (springs), and the nachal (stream / river) that shatap (flowed) thawak (midst) the midst of the aratz (Earth/land), amar (said), “Why should the malakay (kings) of Ashawar (Assyria) bawaa (bring), and matzaa (find) much mayam (Waters)?”

5 He chazaq (took) courage, and banah (build) up all the chawamah (wall) that was paratz (broken) down, and ilah (go up / offer) it up to the magadalawath (towers), and the other chawamah (wall) outside, and chazaq (strengthened) Malawaa (Millo) in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), and ishah (make) shalach (weapons) and maganayam (shields) in rab (abundance).

6 He nathan (give) sharay (captains) of malachamah (war) over the im (nation / people), and qabatz (gathered) them together to him in the rachab (broad) place at the shair (gate) of the iyar (city), and dabar (word / matter) labab (comfortably) to them, amar (said),

7 “Be chazaq (strong) and amatz (courageous), don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid) nor chathath (dismayed) for the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), nor for all the hamawan (multitude) who is with him; for there is a greater with us than with him.

8 With him is an zarawai (arm) of bashar (flesh); but with us is Yahawah () our Alahayam () to izar (help) us, and to lacham (fight) our malachamah (battles).” The im (nation / people) samak (rested) themselves on the dabaray (words) of Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah).

9 Achar (other) this, Sanacharayab (Sennacherib) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) shalach (send) his ibad (servant) to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), (now he was before Lakayash (Lachish), and all his mamashalah (rule / govern) with him), to Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and to all Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) who were at Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), amar (said),

10 Thus amar (said) Sanacharayab (Sennacherib) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), “In whom do you batach (trust), that you yashab (inhabit/dwell) under matzawar (siege) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem)?

11 Doesn't Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) sawath (persuade) you, to nathan (give) you over to mawath (death) by raib (famine) and by tzamaa (thirst), amar (spoke), ‘Yahawah () our Alahayam () will natzal (deliver) us out of the kap (hand) of the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria)?’

12 Hasn't the same Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) sawar (taken) away his bamah (high) places and his mazabach (altars), and commanded Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), amar (said), ‘You shall shachah (worship) panayam (face) achad (one) mazabach (altar), and on it you shall qatar (burn) incense?’

13 Don't you yadai (know) what I and my ab (father) ishah (make) done to all the imay (peoples) of the aratzawath (lands)? Were the Alahayam () of the gaway (heathen / nation) of the aratzawath (lands) in any yakal (way) yakal (able) to natzal (deliver) their aratz (Earth/land) out of my yad (hand)?

14 Who was there among all the Alahayam () of those gawayam (nations) which my ab (father) charam (utterly) destroyed, that yakal (could) natzal (deliver) his im (nation / people) out of my yad (hand), that your Alahayam () should be yakal (able) to natzal (deliver) you out of my yad (hand)?

15 Now therefore don't let Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) nashaa (lift) you, nor sawath (persuade) you in this way, neither aman (believe / have faith) him; for no Alawah () of any gaway (heathen / nation) or mamalakah (kingdom) was yakal (able) to natzal (deliver) his im (nation / people) out of my yad (hand), and out of the yad (hand) of my ab (father). How much less will your Alahayam () natzal (deliver) you out of my yad (hand)?”

16 His ibad (servant) dabar (word / matter) yet more against Yahawah () Alahayam (), and against his ibad (servant) Chazaqayah (Hezekiah).

17 He also kathab (write) saparayam (letters) insulting Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), and to amar (spoke) amar (spoke) him, saying, “As the Alahayam () of the gaway (heathen / nation) of the aratzawath (lands), which have not natzal (delivered) their im (nation / people) out of my yad (hand), so shall the Alahayam () of Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) not natzal (deliver) his im (nation / people) out of my yad (hand).”

18 They qaraa (called) with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qawal (sound / voice) in the Yahawadayath (Jews)’ language to the im (nation / people) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) who were on the chawamah (wall), to frighten them, and to bahal (trouble) them; that they might lakad (take) the iyar (city).

19 They dabar (word / matter) of the Alahayam () of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), as of the Alahayam () of the imay (peoples) of the aratz (Earth/land), which are the maishah (work) of adam (men's) yaday (hands).

20 Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) the malak (king), and Yashaiyah (Isaiah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) the ban (son) of Amawatz (Amoz), palal (prayed) because of this, and zaiq (cried) to shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens).

21 Yahawah () shalach (send) an malaak (angel / messenger of Yah), who kachad (cut) off all the gabawar (mighty) men of valor, and the nagayad (leaders) and shar (prince / ruler), in the machanah (camp) of the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria). So he shawab (turn back / repent) with bashath (shame) of panayam (face) to his own aratz (Earth/land). When he bawaa (come) come into the bayath (house) of his Alahayam (), yatzayaa (those) who came forth from his own maih (bowels) killed him there with the charab (sword).

22 Thus Yahawah () yashai (salvation) Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) and the yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) from the yad (hand) of Sanacharayab (Sennacherib) the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), and from the yad (hand) of all others, and nahal (guided) them on sabayab (surrounding) side.

23 Many bawaa (come) manachah (gifts) to Yahawah () to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and magadanah (precious) things to Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah); so that he was nashaa (lift) in the iyan (eye) of all gawayam (nations) from achar (other).

24 In those yamayam (days) Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) was chalah (afflict) even to mawath (death): and he palal (prayed) to Yahawah (); and he amar (spoke) to him, and nathan (give) him a mawapath (sign).

25 But Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) didn't shawab (turn) again according to the gamawal (benefit) done to him; for his lab (heart) was gabah (lifted) up: therefore there was qatzap (wrath) on him, and on Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

26 Notwithstanding Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) kanai (humbled) himself for the gabah (pride) of his lab (heart), both he and the yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), so that the qatzap (wrath) of Yahawah () didn't bawaa (come) on them in the yamay (days) of Chazaqayah (Hezekiah).

27 Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) had maad (exceeding) much riches and honor: and he ishah (make) him atzarawath (treasuries) for kasap (silver), and for zahab (gold), and for yaqar (precious) aban (stone), and for bashamayam (spices), and for maganayam (shields), and for all kinds of chamadah (goodly) kalay (vessels);

28 Masakanawath (storehouses) also for the thabawaah (increase) of grain and new thayarawash (wine) and yatzahar (fresh oil); and arawath (stalls) for all kinds of animals, and idarayam (flocks) in folds.

29 Moreover he ishah (make) him irayam (cities), and maqanah (possessions) of tzaan (flocks) and baqar (morning) in rab (abundance); for Alahayam () nathan (give) given him very much rakawash (wealth / property / goods / possessions).

30 This same Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) also satham (stopped) the ilayawan (Most High) mawatzaa (spring) of the waters of Gayachawan (Gihon), and brought them yashar (upright) down on the mairab (west) side of the iyar (city) of Dawad (David). Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) tzalach (prospered) in all his maishah (works).

31 However concerning the malayatzay (ambassadors) of the sharay (princes) of Babal (Babylon), who shalach (send) to him to darash (inquire) of the mawapath (wonder) that was done in the aratz (Earth/land), Alahayam () izab (left) him, to nasah (try) him, that he might yadai (know) all that was in his labab (heart).

32 Now the yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Chazaqayah (Hezekiah), and his chasad (grace) deeds, behold, they are kathab (write) in the chazawan (vision) of Yashaiyah (Isaiah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) the ban (son) of Amawatz (Amoz), in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yashar-Al (Israel).

33 Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) shakab (slept) with his ab (father), and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in the mailah (ascent) of the tombs of the banay (my son) of Dawad (David): and all Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and the yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) ishah (make) him honor at his mawath (death). Manashah (Manasseh) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.
