1 But it happened that when Sanabalat (Sanballat), Tawabayah (Tobiah), the Arabians, the Imawan (Ammonites), and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the chawamah (walls) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, then they were very angry;
2 And they conspired all of them together to zakar (remember) and lacham (fight) against Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and to cause confusion therein.
3 But we shamai (hearken / hear) our prayer to our Alahayam (), and shawab (turn back / repent) a watch against them hayah (came to pass) and night, ashar (who/that) of them.
4 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.”
5 Our adversaries said, “They shall not know, neither see, until we come into their midst, and kill them, and cause the malaakah (work) to cease.”
6 It happened that when the Yahawaday (Jews) who lived by them came, they said to us ten il (over) from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
7 Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the chawamah (wall), in the open places, I set the im (nation / people) after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
8 I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Don't be afraid of them! Remember the Adanay (), who is alahayam (God) and awesome, and lacham (fight) for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
9 It happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and Alahayam () had ishah (make) their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone to his malaakah (work).
10 It happened from that yawam (day) forth, that thawak (midst) of my nair (servants) malaakah (worked) in the malaakah (work), and thawak (midst) of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Yahawadah (Judah).
11 They all built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands worked in the work, and with the other held his shalach (weapon);
12 And the banah (build), everyone wore his charab (sword) at his mathan (side), and so banah (build). He who thaqai (blow / sound alarm) the shawapar (Shofar / Ram's horn) was by me.
13 I amar (said) to the char (nobles), and to the sagan (rulers) and to the yathar (rest) of the im (nation / people), “The malaakah (work) is rabah (great) and large, and we are parad (separated) on the chawamah (wall), ayash (man / husband) rachawaq (far) from ach (brother/kinsman).
14 Wherever you shamai (hearken / hear) the qawal (sound / voice) of the shawapar (Shofar / Ram's horn), rally there to us. Our Alahayam () will lacham (fight) for us.”
15 So we ishah (make) in the malaakah (work): and chatzay (half) of them chazaq (held) the ramach (spears) from the ilah (go up / offer) of the shachar (morning) until the kawakab (star) appeared.
16 Likewise at the same ith (time) amar (said) I to the im (nation / people), “Let everyone with his nair (servant) lawan (lodge) thawak (midst) Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), that in the layal (night) they may be a mashamar (guard) to us, and may malaakah (labor) in the yawam (day).”
17 So neither I, nor my ach (brother/kinsman), nor my nair (servants), nor the anawash (men) of the mashamar (guard) who achar (other) me, none of us took off our clothes. Everyone took his shalach (weapon) to the mayam (Waters).
18 It happened that when the Yahawaday (Jews) who lived by them came, they said to us ten il (over) from all places, "Wherever you turn, they will attack us.
