Exodus 34 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “Chisel shanayam (two) aban (stone) tablets like the raashawan (first): and I will kathab (write) on the tablets the dabarayam (words) that were on the raashawan (first) tablets, which you shabar (broke).

2 Be kawan (ready) by the baqar (morning), and ilah (go up / offer) up in the baqar (morning) to har (mountain) Sayanay (Sinai), and natzab (present) yourself there to me on the raash (head) of the har (mountain).

3 No ayash (man / husband) shall ilah (go up / offer) up with you; al (toward) let anyone be raah (see / saw) throughout all the har (mountain); neither let the tzaan (flocks) nor baqar (morning) raih (feed) mawal (before) that har (mountain).”

4 He chiseled shanayam (two) tablets of aban (stone) like the raashawan (first); and Mashah (Moses) shakam (rose) up early in the baqar (morning), and ilah (go up / offer) up to har (mountain) Sayanay (Sinai), as Yahawah () had tzawah (commanded) him, and laqach (take / seize) in his yad (hand) shanayam (two) aban (stone) tablets.

5 Yahawah () descended in the inan (cloud), and yatzab (stood) with him there, and qaraa (called) the sham (name) of Yahawah ().

6 Yahawah () ibar (pass over/through) by panayam (face) him, and qaraa (called), “Yahawah ()! Yahawah (), a rachawam (merciful) and chanawan (gracious) Al, arak (slow) to anger, and abundant in loving chasad (grace) and amath (truth),

7 Natzar (keeping) loving chasad (grace) for alapayam (thousands), nashaa (lift) iwan (guilt/iniquity) and disobedience and chataah (sin); and that will by no naqah (clean/innocent) naqah (clean/innocent) the guilty, paqad (visit) the iwan (guilt/iniquity) of the abawath (fathers) on the banayam (children), and on the banayam (childrens) banayam (children), on the shalash (three) and on the rabai (fourth) generation.”

8 Mashah (Moses) hurried and bowed his qadad (head) toward the aratz (Earth/land), and shachah (worshiped).

9 He amar (spoke), “If now I matzaa (have) found favor in your iyan (eye), Adanay (), please let the Adanay () yalak (go) in the midst of us; although this is a stiff-necked im (nation / people); salach (forgive/pardon/make clean) our iwan (guilt/iniquity) and our chataah (sin), and take us for your nachal (inheritance).”

10 He amar (spoke), “Behold, I karath (cut) a barayath (covenant): before all your im (nation / people) I will ishah (make) marvels, such as have not been worked in all the aratz (Earth/land), nor in any gaway (heathen / nation); and all the im (nation / people) qarab (among / near) which you are shall raah (see) the maishah (work) of Yahawah (); for it is an awesome thing that I ishah (make) with you.

11 Shamar (keep/guard) that which I tzawah (command) you this yawam (day). Behold, I garash (drive) out panayam (face) you the Amaray (Amaray / Amorite), the Kanainay (Canaanite), the Chathay (Hittite), the Parazay (Perizzite), the Chaway (Hivite), and the Yabawasay (Jebusite).

12 Be careful, lest you karath (cut) a barayath (covenant) with the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of the aratz (Earth/land) where you are bawaa (bring), lest it be for a mawaqash (snare) in the qarab (among / near) of you:

13 But you shall shabar (break) down their mazabach (altars), and dash in pieces their matzabah (pillars), and you shall karath (cut) down their Asharah (Asherim);

14 For you shall shachah (worship) no other Al: for Yahawah (), whose sham (name) is qanaa (jealous), is a qanaa (jealous) Al.

15 “Don't karath (cut) a barayath (covenant) with the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of the aratz (Earth/land), lest they zanah (play) the prostitute achar (other) their Alahayam (), and zabach (sacrifice) to their Alahayam (), and one qaraa (called) you and you akal (eat) of his zabach (sacrifice);

16 And you laqach (take / seize) of their banath (daughter) to your ban (son), and their banath (daughter) zanah (play) the prostitute achar (other) their Alahayam (), and make your ban (son) zanah (play) the prostitute achar (other) their Alahayam ().

17 “You shall ishah (make) no cast idols for yourselves.

18 “You shall shamar (keep/guard) the chag (feast/festival) of unleavened matzah (bread). Shabai (seven) yamayam (days) you shall akal (eat) unleavened matzah (bread), as I tzawah (commanded) you, at the mawaid (Feast/Holy Day) appointed in the chadash (month) abayab (abib); for in the chadash (month) abayab (abib) you yatzaa (go out / come out) out from Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt).

19 “All that patar (opens) the racham (show mercy / love) is mine; and all your livestock that is zakar (remember), the firstborn of shawar (cow) and shah (sheep).

20 The firstborn of a donkey you shall padah (redeem) with a shah (lamb): and if you will not padah (redeem) it, then you shall irap (break) its neck. All the bakawar (firstborn) of your ban (son) you shall padah (redeem). No one shall raah (see / saw) panayam (face) me rayaqam (empty).

21 “Shash (six) yamayam (days) you shall ibad (servant), but on the shabayaiy (seventh) yawam (day) you shall shabath (shabath / rest): in plowing time and in qatzayar (harvest) you shall shabath (shabath / rest).

22 “You shall ishah (make) the chag (feast/festival) of shabaith (weeks) with the bakawar (first) fruits of chatah (wheat) qatzayar (harvest), and the chag (feast/festival) of harvest at the shanah (year's) thaqawapah (end).

23 Paim (three) times in the shanah (year) all your zakawar (remember/recall) shall raah (see) panayam (face) the Adawan () Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel).

24 For I will yarash (drive) out gawayam (nations) panayam (face) you and enlarge your gabawal (border/boundary); neither shall any ayash (man / husband) chamad (desire) your aratz (Earth/land) when you ilah (go up / offer) up to raah (see) panayam (face) Yahawah (), your Alahayam (), paim (three) times in the shanah (year).

25 “You shall not shachat (offer) the dam (blood) of my zabach (sacrifice) with chamatz (leavened) bread; neither shall the zabach (sacrifice) of the chag (feast/festival) of the pasach (passover) be lawan (left) to the baqar (morning).

26 “You shall bring the raashayath (beginning) of the raashayath (beginning) bakawaray (fruits) of your adamah (ground) to the bayath (house) of Yahawah () your Alahayam (). “You shall not bashal (boil) a young goat in its am (mother) chalab (milk).”

27 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “kathab (write) you these dabarayam (words): for in accordance with these dabarayam (words) I have karath (cut) a barayath (covenant) with you and with Yashar-Al (Israel).”

28 He was there with Yahawah () arabaiyam (forty) yawam (day) and arabaiyam (forty) layal (nights); he neither akal (eat) lacham (bread), nor shathah (drinks) mayam (Waters). He kathab (write) on the tablets the dabaray (words) of the barayath (covenant), the ishar (ten) commandments.

29 It happened, when Mashah (Moses) yarad (came) down from har (mountain) Sayanay (Sinai) with the shanayam (two) tablets of the idawath (testimony) in Mashah (Moses)’ yad (hand), when he yarad (came) down from the har (mountain), that Mashah (Moses) didn't yadai (know) that the iwar (skin) of his panayam (face) qaran (shone) by reason of his dabar (word / matter) with him.

30 When Aharawan (Aaron) and all the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) raah (see / saw) Mashah (Moses), behold, the iwar (skin) of his panayam (face) qaran (shone); and they were yaraa (fear / be afraid) to nagash (come) near him.

31 Mashah (Moses) qaraa (called) to them, and Aharawan (Aaron) and all the nashaayam (rulers) of the idah (congregation) shawab (turn) to him; and Mashah (Moses) dabar (word / matter) to them.

32 Afterward all the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) nagash (came) near, and he tzawah (gave) them all of the commandments that Yahawah () had dabar (word / matter) with him on har (mountain) Sayanay (Sinai).

33 When Mashah (Moses) was kalah (complete / finish) dabar (word / matter) with them, he nathan (give) a masawah (veil) on his panayam (face).

34 But when Mashah (Moses) bawaa (come) in panayam (face) Yahawah () to dabar (word / matter) with him, he sawar (took) the masawah (veil) off, until he yatzaa (go out / come out) out; and he yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and dabar (word / matter) to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) that which he was tzawah (commanded).

35 The banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) raah (see / saw) Mashah (Moses)’ panayam (face), that the iwar (skin) of Mashah (Moses)’ panayam (face) qaran (shone): and Mashah (Moses) shawab (turn) the masawah (veil) on his panayam (face) again, until he bawaa (bring) in to dabar (word / matter) with him.
