Isaiah 47 — English–Hebrew Parallel

“Yarad (come) down, and yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the ipar (dust), bathawalah (virgin) banath (daughter) of Babal (Babylon); yashab (inhabit/dwell) on the aratz (Earth/land) without a kasaa (throne), banath (daughter) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans): for you shall no more be qaraa (called) rak (tender) and inag (delicate).

Laqach (take / seize) the millstones, and tachan (grind) qamach (meal); galah (remove) your tzamah (veil), strip off the train, galah (uncover) the shawaq (leg), ibar (pass over/through) through the naharawath (rivers).

Your irawah (nakedness) shall be galah (uncovered), yes, your charapah (shame) shall be raah (see / saw): I will laqach (take / seize) naqam (vengeance), and will spare no adam (man).”

Our gaal (redeemer), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) is his sham (name), the qadawash (holy) One of Yashar-Al (Israel).

“Yashab (inhabit/dwell) in silence, and bawaa (bring) into chashak (darkness), banath (daughter) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans); for you shall no more be qaraa (called) the gabarath (mistress) of mamalakawath (kingdoms).

I was qatzap (angry) with my im (nation / people), I chalal (profaned) my nachalah (inheritance), and nathan (give) them into your yad (hand): you showed them no racham (show mercy / love); on the zaqan (aged) you have very kabad (heavily) laid your il (over).

You amar (said), ‘I shall be a gabarath (mistress) iwalam (eternity);’ so that you shawam (place / establish / appoint) not lay these things to your lab (heart), nor did you zakar (remember) the acharayath (latter) end of it.

“Now therefore shamai (hearken / hear) this, you who are idayan (given) to pleasures, who yashab (inhabit/dwell) securely, who amar (said) in your labab (heart), ‘I am, and there is apas (none) else besides me; I shall not yashab (inhabit/dwell) as a alamanah (widow), neither shall I yadai (know) the shakawal (loss) of children:’

But these shanayam (two) things shall bawaa (bring) to you in a ragai (in an instance) in achad (one) yawam (day), the shakawal (loss) of children, and alaman (widowhood); in their tham (full) measure shall they bawaa (bring) on you, in the rab (multitude) of your kashap (sorceries), and the maad (great) itzamah (abundance) of your chabar (enchantments).

For you have batach (trusted) in your rai (wickedness); you have amar (said), ‘No one raah (see / saw) me;’ your chakamah (wisdom) and your daith (knowledge), it has shawab (turn) you, and you have amar (said) in your lab (heart), ‘I am, and there is apas (none) else besides me.’

Therefore rai (evil) will bawaa (bring) on you; you won't yadai (know) when it dawns: and hawah (calamity / destruction) will napal (fall / be cast down) on you; you will not be yakal (able) to kapar (put) it away: and shawaa (vanity) shall bawaa (bring) on you pathaawam (suddenly), which you don't yadai (know).

“Imad (stand) now with your chabar (enchantments), and with the rab (multitude) of your kashap (sorceries), in which you have labored from your naiwar (youth); if so be you shall be yakal (able) to yail (profit), if so be you may iratz (prevail).

You are laah (wearied) in the rab (multitude) of your itzah (counsels): let now the habaraw (astrologers), the chazayam (stargazers), the chadash (month) mawadayaim (prognosticators), imad (stand) up, and yashai (salvation) you from the things that shall bawaa (bring) on you.

Behold, they shall be as qash (stubble); the ash (fire) shall sharap (burn) them; they shall not natzal (deliver) themselves from the yad (hand) of the lahabah (flame): it shall not be a gachal (coal) to chamam (warm) at, nor a awar (light) to yashab (inhabit/dwell) before.

Thus shall the things be to you in which you have labored: those who have sachar (trafficked) with you from your naiwar (youth) shall thaih (wander) everyone to his ibar (quarter); there shall be none to yashai (salvation) you.
