Isaiah 48 — English–Hebrew Parallel

“Shamai (hearken / hear) this, bayath (house) of Yaiqab (Jacob), you who are qaraa (called) by the sham (name) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and yatzaa (go out / come out) come forth out of the may (waters) of Yahawadah (Judah); who shabai (swear / take oath) by the sham (name) of Yahawah (), and zakar (remember) mention of the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), but not in amath (truth), nor in tzadaqah (righteousness)

(For they qaraa (called) themselves of the qadash (set apart / make holy) iyar (city), and samak (stay) themselves on the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel); Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) is his sham (name)):

I have nagad (declared) the raashawan (former) things from of az (old); yes, they yatzaa (go out / come out) forth out of my pah (mouth), and I showed them: pathaawam (suddenly) I ishah (make) them, and they happened.

Because I daith (knew) that you are qashah (rough / hard), and your irap (neck) is an barazal (iron) gayad (sinew), and your matzach (brow) nachawashah (brass);

Therefore I have nagad (declared) it to you from of az (old); before it bawaa (bring) to pass I showed it to you; lest you should amar (said), ‘My itzab (idol) ishah (make) done them, and my engraved pasal (image), and my molten nasak (image), has tzawah (commanded) them.’

You have shamai (hearken / hear) it; chazah (see) all this; and you, will you not nagad (declare) it? “I have shown you new things from ithah (now / present moment) time, even natzar (hidden) things, which you yadai (have) not known.

They are baraa (created) now, and not from of panayam (face); and before this yawam (day) you didn't shamai (hearken / hear) them; lest you should amar (said), ‘Behold, I yadai (knew) them.’

Yes, you didn't shamai (hearken / hear); yes, you didn't yadai (know); yes, from of old your azan (ear) was not pathach (opened): for I yadai (knew) that you dealt very bagad (treacherously), and was qaraa (called) a transgressor from the batan (womb).

For my sham (name) sake will I arak (defer) my ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting), and for my thahalah (praise) will I chatam (refrain) for you, that I not karath (cut) you off.

Behold, I have tzarap (refined) you, but not as kasap (silver); I have bachar (chosen) you in the kawar (furnace) of inay (affliction).

For my own sake, for my own sake, will I ishah (make) it; for how should my name be chalal (profaned)? I will not nathan (give) my kabawad (glory) to achar (other).

“Shamai (hearken / hear) to me, O Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch), and Yashar-Al (Israel) my qaraa (called): I am he; I am the raashawan (first), I also am the acharawan (last).

Yes, my yad (hand) has yasad (laid) the foundation of the aratz (Earth/land), and my right yamayan (right hand) has spread out the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens): when I qaraa (called) to them, they imad (stand) up yachad (together).

“Qabatz (assemble) yourselves, all you, and shamai (hearken / hear); who among them has nagad (declared) these things? He whom Yahawah () ahab (love) shall ishah (make) his chapatz (pleasure) on Babal (Babylon), and his zarawai (arm) shall be on the Kashaday (Chaldeans).

I, even I, have dabar (word / matter); yes, I have qaraa (called) him; I bawaa (bring) brought him, and he shall make his darak (way) prosperous.

“Qarab (come close) qarab (come close) to me and shamai (hearken / hear) this: “From the raash (head) I have not dabar (word / matter) in sathar (secret / hidden); from the ith (time) that it was, there.” am I. Now the Adanay () Yahawah () has shalach (send) me, with his rawach (spirit / wind).

Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), your gaal (redeemer), the qadawash (holy) One of Yashar-Al (Israel): “I am Yahawah () your Alahayam (), who teaches you to yail (profit), who darak (leads) you by the darak (way) that you should yalak (go).

Oh that you had listened to my matzawah (commandments)! Then your shalawam (peace / safety) would have been like a nahar (river), and your tzadaqah (righteousness) like the galay (waves) of the yam (sea/waters):

Your zarai (seed) also had been as the chawal (sand), and the tzaatzaa (offspring) of your body like its grains: his sham (name) would not be karath (cut) off nor destroyed from panayam (face) me.”

Yatzaa (go out / come out) forth from Babal (Babylon), barach (flee) from the Kashaday (Chaldeans); with a qawal (sound / voice) of ranah (singing) nagad (declare), shamai (hearken / hear) this, yatzaa (go out / come out) it even to the qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the aratz (Earth/land): amar (spoke), “Yahawah () has gaal (redeemed) his ibad (servant) Yaiqab (Jacob).”

They didn't tzamaa (thirst) when he yalak (led) them through the deserts; he caused the mayam (Waters) to nazal (flow) out of the tzawar (rock) for them; he split the tzawar (rock) also, and the mayam (Waters) zawab (flow) out.

“There is no shalawam (peace / safety)”, amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “for the rashai (wicked).”
