Jeremiah 12 — English–Hebrew Parallel

You are tzadayaq (righteous), Yahawah (), when I rayab (contend) with you; yet I would reason the cause with you: why does the darak (way) of the rashai (wicked) tzalach (prosper)? Why are all they at ease who deal very bagad (treacherously)?

You have natai (planted) them, yes, they have sharash (taken) root; they yalak (grow), yes, they ishah (make) forth paray (fruit): you are qarawab (near) in their pah (mouth), and rachawaq (far) from their kalayah (heart).

But you, Yahawah (), yadai (know) me; you raah (see) me, and bachan (try) my lab (heart) toward you: nathaq (pull) them out like tzaan (sheep) for the tabachah (slaughter), and qadash (set apart / make holy) them for the yawam (day) of haragah (slaughter).

How long shall the aratz (Earth/land) abal (mourn), and the ishab (herbs) of the whole shadah (country) yabash (dry land)? For the rai (wickedness) of those who yashab (inhabit/dwell) therein, the animals are sapah (consumed), and the iwap (flying); because they amar (said), “He shall not raah (see / saw) our acharayath (latter) end.”

“If you have rawatz (run) with the footmen, and they have laah (wearied) you, then how can you thacharah (contend) with sawasayam (horses)? And though in a aratz (Earth/land) of shalawam (peace / safety) you are batach (secure), yet how will you ishah (make) in the pride of the Yaradan (Jordan)?

For even your ach (brother/kinsman), and the bayath (house) of your ab (father), even they have dealt bagad (treacherously) with you; even they have qaraa (called) aloud achar (other) you: don't aman (believe / have faith) them, though they dabar (word / matter) tawab (good / proper function) words to you.

“I have forsaken my bayath (house), I have natash (cast) off my nachalah (heritage); I nathan (give) given the yadadawath (dearly) beloved of my napash (soul) into the kap (hand) of her ayab (enemy).

My nachalah (heritage) has become to me as a aray (lion) in the yair (forest): she nathan (give) uttered her voice against me; therefore I have shanaa (hate) her.

Is my nachalah (heritage) to me as a tzabawai (speckled) iyat (bird) of prey? Are the iyat (birds) of prey against her all around? Yalak (go), asap (assemble) all the animals of the shadah (field), athah (you (masc)) them to akalah (devour).

Many raiyam (shepherds) have shachath (destroyed) my karam (vineyard), they have bawas (trodden) my chalaqah (portion) under bawas (foot), they nathan (give) made my chamadah (pleasant) chalaqah (portion) a shamamah (desolate) madabar (wilderness).

They have shawam (place / establish / appoint) it a desolation; it abal (mourns) to me, being shamamah (desolate); the whole aratz (Earth/land) is shamam (made) desolate, because no ayash (man / husband) shawam (place / establish / appoint) it to lab (heart).

Shadadayam (destroyers) bawaa (come) come on all the bare heights in the madabar (wilderness); for the charab (sword) of Yahawah () akal (eat) from the one qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the aratz (Earth/land) even to the other qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the aratz (Earth/land): no bashar (flesh) has shalawam (peace / safety).

They have zarai (sown) chatah (wheat), and have qatzar (reaped) qatzayam (thorns); they have chalah (afflict) themselves to pain, and yail (profit) nothing: and you shall be bawash (ashamed) of your thabawaah (fruits), because of the charawan (fierce) ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah ().”

“Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () against all my rai (evil) neighbors, who nagai (touch) the nachalah (inheritance) which I have caused my im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel) to nachal (inherit): behold, I will nathash (pluck) them up from off their adamah (land), and will nathash (pluck) up the bayath (house) of Yahawadah (Judah) from thawak (midst) them.

It shall happen, achar (other) that I have nathash (plucked) them up, I will shawab (turn) and racham (show mercy / love) compassion on them; and I will shawab (turn) them again, every ayash (man / husband) to his nachalah (heritage), and every ayash (man / husband) to his aratz (Earth/land).

It shall happen, if they will lamad (teach / instruct) lamad (teach / instruct) the darakay (ways) of my im (nation / people), to shabai (swear / take oath) by my sham (name), ‘As Yahawah () chay (life);’ even as they lamad (teach / instruct) my im (nation / people) to shabai (swear / take oath) by Bail (Baal); then shall they be banah (build) up in the thawak (midst) of my im (nation / people).

But if they will not shamai (hearken / hear), then will I nathash (pluck) up that gaway (heathen / nation), nathash (plucking) up and destroying it,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().
