Jeremiah 16 — English–Hebrew Parallel

The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came also to me, amar (spoke),

“You shall not laqach (take / seize) a ayashah (woman / wife), neither shall you have banayam (sons) or banawath (daughters), in this maqawam (place).”

For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () concerning the banayam (sons) and concerning the banawath (daughters) who are yalad (birth / begot) in this maqawam (place), and concerning their am (mother) who yalad (birth / begot) them, and concerning their ab (father) who became their ab (father) in this aratz (Earth/land):

“They shall mawath (death) thachalawaa (grievous) mamawathay (deaths): they shall not be sapad (lamented), neither shall they be qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher); they shall be as daman (dung) on the surface of the adamah (ground); and they shall be kalah (complete / finish) by the charab (sword), and by raib (famine); and their nabalah (dead) bodies shall be maakal (food) for the iwap (flying) of the sky, and for the animals of the aratz (Earth/land).”

For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “Don't bawaa (come) into the bayath (house) of marazach (mourning), neither yalak (go) to sapad (lament), neither nawad (bemoan) them; for I have asap (taken) away my shalawam (peace / safety) from this im (nation / people),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “even loving chasad (grace) and tender rachamayam (mercies).

Both gadawal (very great/important/mighty) and qatan (small / young / least) shall mawath (death) in this aratz (Earth/land); they shall not be qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher), neither shall men sapad (lament) for them, nor gadad (cut) themselves, nor qarach (make) themselves bald for them;

Neither shall men break bread for them in abal (mourning), to nacham (turn away / repent) them for the mawath (death); neither shall men give them the kawas (cup) of thanachawam (consolation) to shaqah (drink) for their ab (father) or for their am (mother).

“You shall not bawaa (bring) into the bayath (house) of mashathah (feasting) to yashab (inhabit/dwell) with them, to akal (eat) and to shathah (drinks).”

For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel): “Behold, I will shabath (shabath / rest) to cease out of this maqawam (place), before your iyan (eye) and in your yawam (day), the qawal (sound / voice) of shashawan (mirth) and the qawal (sound / voice) of shamachah (gladness), the qawal (sound / voice) of the chathan (bridegroom) and the qawal (sound / voice) of the kalah (complete / finish).

It shall happen, when you shall show this im (nation / people) all these dabarayam (words), and they shall amar (spoke) you, ‘Why has Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) all this gadawal (very great/important/mighty) rai (evil) against us?’ Or ‘what is our iwan (guilt/iniquity)? Or ‘what is our chataah (sin) that we have chataa (committed) against Yahawah () our Alahayam ()?’

Then you shall amar (spoke) them, ‘Because your ab (father) have forsaken me,’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), ‘and have yalak (walked) achar (other) other Alahayam (), and have ibad (servant) them, and have shachah (worshiped) them, and have forsaken me, and have not shamar (keep/guard) my thawarah (instruction);

And you ishah (make) done raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil) more than your ab (father); for, han (behold), you halak (move) ayash (man / husband) one achar (other) the stubbornness of his rai (evil) lab (heart), so that you don't shamai (hearken / hear) to me:

Therefore will I tawal (cast) you forth out of this aratz (Earth/land) into the aratz (Earth/land) that you yadai (have) not known, neither you nor your ab (father); and there you shall ibad (servant) other Alahayam () yawamam (by day) and layal (night); for I will show you no favor.’

“Therefore, behold, the yamayam (days) bawaa (come),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “that it shall no more be amar (spoke), ‘As Yahawah () chay (life), who ilah (go up / offer) up the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) out of the aratz (Earth/land) of Matzarayam (Egypt);’

But, ‘As Yahawah () chay (life), who ilah (go up / offer) up the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) from the aratz (Earth/land) of the tzapawan (north), and from all the aratzawath (countries) where he had nadach (driven) them.’ I will shawab (turn back / repent) them again into their adamah (land) that I nathan (give) to their ab (father).

“Behold, I will shalach (send) for many fishermen,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “and they shall dayag (fish) them up; and afterward I will shalach (send) for many tzayadayam (hunters), and they shall tzawad (hunt) them from every har (mountain), and from every gabaih (hill), and out of the clefts of the salaiyam (rocks).

For my iyan (eye) are on all their darak (ways); they are not sathar (hidden) from my panayam (face), neither is their iwan (guilt/iniquity) concealed from my iyan (eye).

Raashawan (first) I will shalam (recompense) their iwan (guilt/iniquity) and their chataah (sin) mashanah (double), because they have chalal (polluted) my aratz (Earth/land) with the carcasses of their shaqawatz (detestable) things, and malaa (have) filled my nachalah (inheritance) with their thawaibah (abominations).”

Yahawah (), my iz (strength / might / refuge), and my stronghold, and my manawas (refuge) in the yawam (day) of tzarah (affliction), to you shall the gawayam (nations) bawaa (come) from the apas (ends) of the aratz (Earth/land), and shall amar (spoke), “Our ab (father) nachal (have) inherited nothing but shaqar (lies), habal (vanity) and things in which there is no yail (profit).

Shall a adam (man) ishah (make) to himself Alahayam (), which yet are no Alahayam ()?”

“Therefore, behold, I yadai (will) cause them to know, paim (this) once yadai (will) I cause them to know my yad (hand) and my gabawarah (might); and they shall yadai (know) that my sham (name) is Yahawah ().”
