Jeremiah 19 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “halak (move), and qanah (buy) a yatzar (potter's) charash (earthen) baqabaq (bottle), and take some of the zaqanay (elders) of the im (nation / people), and of the zaqanay (elders) of the kahanayam (priests);

2 And yatzaa (go out / come out) forth to the gayaa (valley) of the ban (son) of Hanam (Hinnom), which is by the entry of the shair (gate) Harsith, and qaraa (called) there the dabarayam (words) that I shall dabar (word / matter) you;

3 And amar (spoke), ‘shamai (hearken / hear) the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (), malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Judah), and yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem): thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), “Behold, I will bawaa (come) rai (evil) on this maqawam (place), which whoever shamaiw (hears), his azan (ear) shall tzalal (tingle).

4 Because they have forsaken me, and have nakar (estranged) this maqawam (place), and have qatar (burned) incense in it to other Alahayam (), that they didn't yadai (know), they and their ab (father) and the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Judah); and malaa (have) filled this maqawam (place) with the dam (blood) of naqayam (innocents),

5 And have banah (build) the bamah (high) places of Bail (Baal), to sharap (burn) their ban (son) in the ash (fire) for burnt ilawath (offerings) to Bail (Baal); which I didn't tzawah (command), nor dabar (word / matter) it, neither ilah (go up / offer) it into my lab (heart):

6 Therefore, behold, the yamayam (days) bawaa (come),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “that this maqawam (place) shall no more be qaraa (called) ‘Thapath (Topheth)’, nor ‘The gayaa (valley) of the ban (son) of Hanam (Hinnom)’, but ‘The gayaa (valley) of haragah (slaughter)’.

7 “‘“I will baqaq (make) void the itzah (counsel) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) in this maqawam (place); and I will napal (fall / be cast down) them to fall by the charab (sword) panayam (face) their ayab (enemy), and by the yad (hand) of those who baqash (seek) their napash (soul): and their nabalah (dead) bodies will I nathan (give) to be maakal (food) for the iwap (flying) of the sky, and for the animals of the aratz (Earth/land).

8 I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) this iyar (city) an shamah (astonishment), and a sharaqah (hissing); everyone who passes thereby shall be shamam (astonished) and sharaq (hiss) because of all its makah (plagues).

9 I will cause them to akal (eat) the bashar (flesh) of their ban (son) and the bashar (flesh) of their banath (daughter); and they shall akal (eat) everyone the bashar (flesh) of his rai (neigbor/another person), in the matzawar (siege) and in the matzawaq (distress), with which their ayab (enemy), and those who baqash (seek) their napash (soul), shall tzawaq (distress) them.”’

10 “Then you shall shabar (break) the baqabaq (bottle) in the iyan (eye) of the anashayam (men) who halak (move) with you,

11 And shall amar (spoke) them, ‘Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies): “Even so will I shabar (break) this im (nation / people) and this iyar (city), as one shabar (breaks) a yatzar (potter's) kalay (vessel), that can't be rapaa (made) whole again; and they shall qabar (bury) in Thapath (Topheth), until there is no maqawam (place) to qabar (bury).

12 Thus will I ishah (make) to this maqawam (place),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “and to its yashab (inhabit/dwell), even nathan (give) this iyar (city) as Thapath (Topheth):

13 And the bathay (houses) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and the bathay (houses) of the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Judah), which are tamaa (defiled), shall be as the maqawam (place) of Thapath (Topheth), even all the bathay (houses) on whose gag (roofs) they have qatar (burned) incense to all the tzabaa (troop) of the sky, and have nasak (poured) out drink nasakayam (offerings) to other Alahayam ().”’”

14 Then bawaa (come) Yaramayah (Jeremiah) from Thapath (Topheth), where Yahawah () had shalach (send) him to nabaa (prophesy); and he imad (stood) in the chatzar (court) of Yahawah () bayath (house), and amar (spoke) to all the im (nation / people):

15 “Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), ‘Behold, I will bawaa (come) on this iyar (city) and on all its iyar (towns) all the rai (evil) that I have dabar (word / matter) against it; because they have made their irap (neck) qashah (rough / hard), that they may not shamai (hearken / hear) my dabar (word / matter).’”
