1 The dabar (word / matter) which came to Yaramayah (Jeremiah) from Yahawah (), when malak (king) Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah) shalach (send) to him Pashachawar (Pashhur) the ban (son) of Malakayah (Malchijah), and Tzapanayah (Zephaniah) the ban (son) of Maishayah (Maaseiah), the kahan (priest), amar (spoke),
2 “Please darash (inquire) of Yahawah () for us; for Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) makes lacham (war) against us: perhaps Yahawah () will ishah (make) with us according to all his wondrous palaa (be wonderful / extraordinary / marvelous), that he may ilah (go up / offer) up from us.”
3 Then Yaramayah (Jeremiah) amar (said) to them, “You shall amar (said) Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah):
4 ‘Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), “Behold, I will sabab (turn) back the kalay (weapons) of malachamah (war) that are in your yad (hand), with which you lacham (fight) against the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), and against the Kashaday (Chaldeans) who tzawar (besiege) you, chawatz (without) the chawamah (walls); and I will asap (gather) them into the thawak (midst) of this iyar (city).
5 I myself will lacham (fight) against you with an natah (outstretched) yad (hand) and with a chazaq (strong) zarawai (arm), even in ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting), and in chamah (wrath), and in gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qatzap (indignation).
6 I will nakah (strike) the yawashabay (inhabitants) of this iyar (city), both adam (man) and animal: they shall mawath (death) of a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) dabar (word / matter).
7 Afterward,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “I will nathan (give) Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah), and his ibad (servant), and the im (nation / people), even such as are shaar (left) in this iyar (city) from the dabar (word / matter), from the charab (sword), and from the raib (famine), into the yad (hand) of Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), and into the yad (hand) of their ayab (enemy), and into the yad (hand) of those who baqash (seek) their napash (soul): and he shall nakah (strike) them with the pah (edge) of the charab (sword); he shall not chawas (spare) them, neither chamal (have) pity, nor have racham (show mercy / love).”’
8 “To this im (nation / people) you shall amar (spoke), Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (): ‘“Behold, I nathan (give) panayam (face) you the darak (way) of chay (life) and the darak (way) of mawath (death).
9 He who yashab (inhabit/dwell) in this iyar (city) shall mawath (death) by the charab (sword), and by the raib (famine), and by the dabar (word / matter); but he who yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and passes over to the Kashaday (Chaldeans) who tzawar (besiege) you, he shall chayah (live), and his napash (soul) shall be to him for a shalal (prey).
10 For I have shawam (place / establish / appoint) my panayam (face) on this iyar (city) for rai (evil), and not for tawab (good / proper function),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (): “it shall be nathan (give) into the yad (hand) of the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon), and he shall sharap (burn) it with ash (fire).”’
11 “Touching the bayath (house) of the malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah), shamai (hearken / hear) the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah ():
12 Bayath (house) of Dawad (David), thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), ‘Execute mashapat (justice) in the baqar (morning), and natzal (deliver) him who is gazal (robbed) out of the yad (hand) of the oppressor, lest my chamah (wrath) yatzaa (go out / come out) forth like ash (fire), and bair (burn) so that none can kabah (quench) it, panayam (face) of the rai (evil) of your mailal (doings).
13 Behold, I am against you, O yashab (inhabit/dwell) of the imaq (valley), and of the tzawar (rock) of the mayashawar (plain),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); ‘you that amar (spoke), “Who shall nachath (come) down bawaa (come) us?” Or “who shall enter into our maiwanah (habitations)?”
14 I will paqad (visit) you according to the paray (fruit) of your mailal (doings), naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); and I will yatzath (kindle) a ash (fire) in her yair (forest), and it shall akal (eat) all that is around her.’”
