Jeremiah 3 — English–Hebrew Parallel

“They amar (spoke), ‘If a ayash (man / husband) shalach (send) away his ayashah (woman / wife), and she halak (move) from him, and become achar (other) ayash (man / husband), will he shawab (turn back / repent) to her again?’ Wouldn't that aratz (Earth/land) be chanap (greatly) chanap (polluted)? But you have zanah (played) the prostitute with many raiyam (lovers); yet shawab (turn back / repent) again to me,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

“Nashaa (lift) up your iyan (eye) to the bare heights, and raah (see / saw)! Ayapah (where) have you not been shagal (lain) with? You have yashab (inhabit/dwell) for them by the darakayam (ways), as an Irabay (Arabian) in the madabar (wilderness). You have chanap (polluted) the aratz (Earth/land) with your prostitution and with your rai (wickedness).

Therefore the rababayam (showers) have been withheld, and there has been no malaqawash (latter) rain; yet you have a prostitute's matzach (forehead), you maan (refused) to be kalam (ashamed).

Will you not from this time qaraa (called) to me, ‘My ab (father), you are the alawap (guide) of my naiwar (youth)?’

“‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he shamar (keep/guard) it to the natzach (end)?’ Behold, you have dabar (word / matter) and ishah (make) done rai (evil) things, and yakal (have) had your way.”

Moreover, Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me in the yamay (days) of Yaashayah (Josiah) the malak (king), “raah (see) you seen that which mashawabah (backsliding) Yashar-Al (Israel) ishah (make) done? She has halak (move) up on every gabah (high) har (mountain) and under every rainan (green) itz (tree), and there has zanah (played) the prostitute.

I amar (said) achar (other) she ishah (make) done all these things, ‘She will shawab (turn) to me;’ but she didn't shawab (turn); and her bagawad (treacherous) achawath (sister) Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) raah (see / saw) it.

I raah (see / saw), when, for this very awadawath (cause) that mashawabah (backsliding) Yashar-Al (Israel) had naap (committed) adultery, I had shalach (send) her away and nathan (give) her a sapar (book / scribed document) of karayathawath (divorce), yet bagad (treacherous) Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), her achawath (sister), didn't yaraa (fear / be afraid); but she also yalak (went) and zanah (played) the prostitute.

It happened through the qawal (sound / voice) of her prostitution, that the aratz (Earth/land) was chanap (polluted), and she naap (committed) adultery with aban (stone) and with itz (stocks).

Yet for all this her bagawad (treacherous) achawath (sister), Yahawadah (Judah), has not shawab (turn back / repent) to me with her whole lab (heart), but only in pretense,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me, “mashawabah (backsliding) Yashar-Al (Israel) napash (soul) shown herself more tzadaq (righteous / just / fair) than bagad (treacherous) Yahawadah (Judah).

Halak (move), and qaraa (called) these dabarayam (words) toward the tzapawan (north), and amar (spoke), ‘shawab (turn back / repent), you mashawabah (backsliding) Yashar-Al (Israel),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); ‘I will not look in panayam (face) on you; for I am chasayad (merciful),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (). ‘I will not natar (keep) anger forever.

Only yadai (acknowledge) your iwan (guilt/iniquity), that you have pashai (transgressed) against Yahawah () your Alahayam (), and have pazar (scattered) your darak (ways) to the strangers under every rainan (green) itz (tree), and you have not shamai (hearken / hear) my qawal (sound / voice),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().”

“Shawab (turn back / repent), shawabab (backsliding) banayam (children),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); “for I am a bail (husband) to you. I will laqach (take / seize) you achad (one) of a iyar (city), and shanayam (two) of a mashapachah (tribe / clan / family), and I will bawaa (come) you to Tzayawan (Zion).

I will nathan (give) you raiyam (shepherds) according to my lab (heart), who shall raih (feed) you with daih (knowledge) and shakal (understanding).

It shall come to pass, when you are rabah (multiplied) and parah (increased) in the aratz (Earth/land), in those yamayam (days),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “they shall amar (spoke) no more, ‘The arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) of Yahawah ()! Neither!’ shall it ilah (go up / offer) to lab (heart); neither shall they zakar (remember) it; neither shall they paqad (visit) it; neither shall it be ishah (make) any more.

At that ith (time) they shall qaraa (called) Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) ‘The kasaa (throne);’ of Yahawah (); and all the gawayam (nations) shall be qawah (gather/wait) to it, to the sham (name) of Yahawah (), to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem). Neither shall they yalak (walk) any more achar (other) the stubbornness of their rai (evil) lab (heart).

In those yamayam (days) the bayath (house) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) shall yalak (walk) with the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and they shall bawaa (bring) yachad (together) out of the aratz (Earth/land) of the tzapawan (north) to the aratz (Earth/land) that I gave for an nachal (inheritance) to your ab (father).

“But I amar (said), ‘How I would shayath (put / appoint / make) you among the banayam (children), and nathan (give) you a chamadah (pleasant) aratz (Earth/land), a tzabay (goodly) nachalah (heritage) of the tzabaawath (armies) of the gawayam (heathen)!’ And I amar (said), ‘You shall qaraa (called) me “My ab (father)”, and shall not shawab (turn) away from achar (other) me.’

“Akan (surely) as a ayashah (woman / wife) bagad (treacherously) departs from her rai (neigbor/another person), so you have dealt bagad (treacherously) with me, bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

A qawal (sound / voice) is shamai (hearken / hear) on the bare heights, the bakay (weeping) and the petitions of the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel); because they have iwah (perverted) their darak (way), they have shakach (forgotten) Yahawah () their Alahayam ().

Shawab (turn back / repent), you shawabab (backsliding) banayam (children), I will rapaa (heal) your mashawabah (backsliding). “Behold, we have athah (you (masc)) to you; for you are Yahawah () our Alahayam ().

Akan (truly) in shaqar (vain) is help from the gabaiwath (hills), the hamawan (tumult) on the harayam (mountains). Akan (truly) the thashawaih (deliverance) of Yashar-Al (Israel) is in Yahawah () our Alahayam ().

But the shameful thing has akal (eat) the yagayai (labor) of our ab (father) from our naiwar (youth), their tzaan (flocks) and their baqar (morning), their ban (son) and their banath (daughter).

Let us shakab (lie) down in our bashath (shame), and let our kalamah (confusion) kasah (cover) us; for we have chataa (sinned) against Yahawah () our Alahayam (), we and our ab (father), from our naiwar (youth) even to this yawam (day). We have not shamai (hearken / hear) the qawal (sound / voice) of Yahawah () our Alahayam ().”
