Ezekiel 38 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to me, amar (spoke),

2 “Ban (son) of adam (man), shawam (place / establish / appoint) your panayam (face) toward Gawag (Gog), of the aratz (Earth/land) of Magawag (Magog), the nashayaa (prince) of Rosh, Mashak (Meshech), and Thawabal (Tubal), and nabaa (prophesy) against him,

3 And amar (spoke), ‘Thus amar (spoke) the Adanay () Yahawah (): “Behold, I am against you, Gawag (Gog), raash (head) of Rosh, Mashak (Meshech), and Thawabal (Tubal):

4 And I will shawab (turn) you around, and nathan (give) chachayam (hooks) into your lachay (jaws), and I will yatzaa (go out / come out) you forth, with all your chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor), sawasayam (horses) and horsemen, all of them labash (clothed) in full armor, a rab (great) qahal (company) with tzanah (buckler) and magan (shield), all of them thapash (handling) charabawath (swords);

5 Paras (Persia), Kawash (Cush), and Pawat (Put) with them, all of them with magan (shield) and kawabai (helmet);

6 Gamar (Gomer), and all his hordes; the bayath (house) of Thawagaramah (Togarmah) in the uttermost yarakathay (parts) of the tzapawan (north), and all his hordes; even many imayam (peoples) with you.

7 “‘“Be kawan (prepared), yes, kawan (prepare) yourself, you, and all your qahal (companies) who are qahal (assembled) to you, and be a mashamar (guard) to them.

8 After many yamayam (days) you shall be paqad (visit): in the acharayath (latter) shanayam (two) you shall bawaa (bring) into the aratz (Earth/land) that is shawab (turn) back from the charab (sword), that is qabatz (gathered) out of many imayam (peoples), on the haray (mountains) of Yashar-Al (Israel), which have been a thamayad (continual) charabah (waste); but it is yatzaa (go out / come out) forth out of the imayam (peoples), and they shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) securely, all of them.

9 You shall ilah (go up / offer), you shall bawaa (bring) like a shawaa (vanity), you shall be like a inan (cloud) to kasah (cover) the aratz (Earth/land), you, and all your hordes, and many imayam (peoples) with you.”

10 “‘Thus amar (spoke) the Adanay () Yahawah (): “It shall happen in that yawam (day), that things shall ilah (go up / offer) into your labab (mind), and you shall chashab (devise) an rai (evil) machashabah (device):

11 And you shall amar (said), ‘I will ilah (go up / offer) up to the aratz (Earth/land) of parazah (unwalled) villages; I will bawaa (bring) to those who are at shaqat (rest), who yashab (inhabit/dwell) securely, all of them yashab (inhabit/dwell) without chawamah (walls), and having neither barayach (bars) nor dalathayam (gates);

12 To take the shalal (spoil) and to bazaz (take) the baz (prey); to shawab (turn) your yad (hand) against the charabah (waste) places that are now yashab (inhabit/dwell), and against the im (nation / people) who are asap (gathered) out of the gawayam (heathen), who ishah (make) gotten livestock and qanayan (goods), who yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the tabawar (middle) of the aratz (Earth/land).’

13 Shabaa (Sheba), and Dadan (Dedan), and the sacharay (merchants) of Tharashayash (Tarshish), with all the young kapayar (lions) of it, shall amar (said) you, ‘bawaa (bring) you come to take the shalal (spoil)? Have you qahal (assembled) your qahal (company) to bazaz (take) the baz (prey)? To nashaa (lift) away kasap (silver) and zahab (gold), to laqach (take / seize) away livestock and qanayan (goods), to take gadawal (very great/important/mighty) shalal (spoil)?’”’

14 “Therefore, ban (son) of adam (man), nabaa (prophesy), and amar (spoke) Gawag (Gog), ‘Thus amar (spoke) the Adanay () Yahawah (): “In that yawam (day) when my im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel) yashab (inhabit/dwell) securely, shall you not yadai (know) it?

15 You shall bawaa (bring) from your maqawam (place) out of the uttermost yarakathay (parts) of the tzapawan (north), you, and many imayam (peoples) with you, all of them rakab (riding) on sawasayam (horses), a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qahal (company) and a rab (mighty) chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor);

16 And you shall ilah (go up / offer) up against my im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel), as a inan (cloud) to kasah (cover) the aratz (Earth/land): it shall happen in the acharayath (latter) yamayam (days), that I will bawaa (bring) you against my aratz (Earth/land), that the gawayam (heathen) may yadai (know) me, when I shall be qadash (set apart / make holy) in you, Gawag (Gog), before their iyan (eye).”

17 “‘Thus amar (spoke) the Adanay () Yahawah (): “Are you he of whom I dabar (word / matter) in qadamawanay (old) yawam (day) by my ibad (servant) the nabayaay (prophets) of Yashar-Al (Israel), who nabaa (prophesied) in those yamayam (days) for many shanayam (years) that I would bawaa (come) you against them?

18 It shall happen in that yawam (day), when Gawag (Gog) shall bawaa (come) against the adamah (land) of Yashar-Al (Israel),” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay () Yahawah (), “that my chamah (wrath) shall ilah (go up / offer) up into my ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting).

19 For in my qanaah (jealousy) and in the ash (fire) of my ibarah (wrath) have I dabar (word / matter), Surely in that yawam (day) there shall be a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) raish (shaking) in the adamah (land) of Yashar-Al (Israel);

20 So that the dag (fish) of the yam (sea/waters), and the iwap (flying) of the sky, and the animals of the shadah (field), and all ramash (creeping) things who ramash (creep) on the adamah (earth), and all the adam (men) who are on the surface of the adamah (earth), shall raish (shake) at my panayam (face), and the harayam (mountains) shall be haras (thrown) down, and the madaragah (steep) places shall napal (fall / be cast down), and every chawamah (wall) shall napal (fall / be cast down) to the aratz (Earth/land).

21 I will qaraa (called) for a charab (sword) against him to all my har (mountain),” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay () Yahawah (): “every ayash (man / husband) charab (sword) shall be against his ach (brother/kinsman).

22 With dabar (word / matter) and with dam (blood) will I enter into shapat (judge / judgement) with him; and I will matar (rain) on him, and on his hordes, and on the many imayam (peoples) who are with him, an shatap (overflowing) gasham (shower), and alagabayash (great) hailstones, ash (fire), and sulfur.

23 I will gadal (magnify) myself, and qadash (set apart / make holy) myself, and I yadai (will) make myself known in the iyanay (eyes) of many gawayam (nations); and they shall yadai (know) that I am Yahawah ().”’
