2 He amar (spoke), “Imawas (Amos), what do you raah (see)?” I amar (spoke), “A kalawab (basket) of qayatz (summer) fruit.” Then Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me, “The qatz (end) bawaa (come) come on my im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel). I will not again ibar (pass over/through) by them any more.
3 The shayarawath (songs) of the hayakal (temple) will be wailings in that yawam (day),” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay () Yahawah (). “The pagar (dead) bodies will be many. In every maqawam (place) they will shalak (throw) them out with hasah (silence).
4 Shamai (hearken / hear) this, you who shaap (desire) to swallow up the abayawan (needy), and shabath (shabath / rest) the abayawan (poor) of the aratz (Earth/land) to shabath (shabath / rest),
5 Amar (said), ‘When will the new chadash (month) be ibar (pass over/through), that we may shabar (sell) grain? And the shabath (shabath / rest), that we may market bar (wheat), making the ayapah (ephah) qatan (small / young / least), and the shaqal (shekel) large, and iwath (dealing) falsely with maazanay (balances) of maramah (deceit);
6 That we may qanah (buy) the dal (poor) for kasap (silver), and the abayawan (needy) for a pair of nailayam (shoes), and shabar (sell) the sweepings with the bar (wheat)?’”
7 Yahawah () has shabai (swear / take oath) by the gaawan (pride) of Yaiqab (Jacob), “Surely I will never shakach (forget) any of their maishah (works).
8 Won't the aratz (Earth/land) ragaz (tremble) for this, and everyone abal (mourn) who yashab (inhabit/dwell) in it? Yes, it will ilah (go up / offer) up wholly like the yaar (river); and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the yaar (river) of Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt).
9 It will happen in that yawam (day),” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay () Yahawah (), “that I will cause the shamash (sun) to bawaa (come) down at tzahar (noon), and I will chashak (darkness) the aratz (Earth/land) in the awar (light) yawam (day).
10 I will hapak (turn) your chag (feast/festival) into abal (mourning), and all your shayar (song) into qayanah (lamentation); and I will ilah (go up / offer) you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and qarachah (baldness) on every raash (head). I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) it like the abal (mourning) for an only son, and its acharayath (end) like a mar (bitter) yawam (day).
11 Behold, the yamayam (days) bawaa (come),” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay () Yahawah (), “that I will shalach (send) a raib (famine) in the aratz (Earth/land), not a raib (famine) of lacham (bread), nor a tzamaa (thirst) for mayam (Waters), but of shamai (hearken / hear) the dabaray (words) of Yahawah ().
12 They will nawai (wander) from yam (sea/waters) to yam (sea/waters), and from the tzapawan (north) even to the mazarach (east); they will shawat (run) back and forth to baqash (seek) the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (), and will not matzaa (find) it.
13 In that yawam (day) the yapah (beautiful) bathawalath (virgins) and the bachawar (young) men will ilap (faint) for tzamaa (thirst).
14 Those who shabai (swear / take oath) by the ashamah (sin) of Shamarawan (Samaria), and amar (spoke), ‘As your Alahayam (), Dan (Dan), chay (life);’ and, ‘As the darak (way) of Baar-Shabai (Beersheba) chay (life);’ they will napal (fall / be cast down), and never qawam (rise up) up again.”
