Zechariah 11 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Pathach (open) your dalath (doors), Labanawan (Lebanon), that the ash (fire) may akal (eat) your araz (cedars).

Wail, barawash (fir) tree, for the araz (cedar) napal (fall / be cast down) fallen, because the stately ones are shadad (destroyed). Wail, you alawanay (oaks) of Bashan (Bashan), for the strong yair (forest) has yarad (come) down.

A qawal (sound / voice) of the wailing of the raiyam (shepherds)! For their glory is shadad (destroyed): a qawal (sound / voice) of the shaagah (roaring) of young kapayarayam (lions)! For the gaawan (pride) of the Yaradan (Jordan) is ruined.

Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () my Alahayam (): “raih (feed) the tzaan (flock) of haragah (slaughter).

Their qanah (buyers) slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who makar (sell) them amar (spoke), ‘barak (blessed) be Yahawah (), for I am ishar (rich);’ and their own raih (shepherds) don't chamal (pity) them.

For I will no more chamal (pity) the yashabay (inhabitants) of the aratz (Earth/land),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); “but, behold, I will matzaa (deliver) the adam (men) everyone into his neighbor's yad (hand), and into the yad (hand) of his malak (king). They will strike the aratz (Earth/land), and out of their yad (hand) I will not natzal (deliver) them.”

So I raih (fed) the tzaan (flock) of haragah (slaughter), especially the oppressed of the tzaan (flock). I laqach (take / seize) for myself shanayam (two) maqalawath (staffs). The achad (one) I qaraa (called) “Favor”, and the other I qaraa (called) “Union”, and I raih (fed) the tzaan (flock).

I kachad (cut) off the shalawash (three) raiyam (shepherds) in achad (one) yarach (month); for my napash (soul) was weary of them, and their napash (soul) also loathed me.

Then I amar (said), “I will not raih (feed) you. That which mawath (death), let it mawath (death); and that which is to be kachad (cut) off, let it be kachad (cut) off; and shaar (let) those who are left akal (eat) ayashah (woman / wife) other's bashar (flesh).”

I laqach (take / seize) my maqal (staff) Favor, and gadai (cut) it apart, that I might parar (break) my barayath (covenant) that I had karath (cut) with all the imayam (peoples).

It was parar (broken) in that yawam (day); and thus the inay (poor) of the tzaan (flock) that listened to me yadai (knew) that it was the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah ().

I amar (said) to them, “If you iyan (eye) it best, yahab (give) me my shakar (wages); and if not, keep them.” So they shaqal (weighed) for my shakar (wages) shalawashayam (thirty) pieces of kasap (silver).

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me, “shalak (throw) it to the yatzar (potter), the handsome yaqar (price) that I was valued at by them!” I laqach (take / seize) the shalawashayam (thirty) pieces of kasap (silver), and shalak (threw) them to the yatzar (potter), in the bayath (house) of Yahawah ().

Then I gadai (cut) apart my other maqal (staff), even Union, that I might parar (break) the achawah (brotherhood) between Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yashar-Al (Israel).

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me, “laqach (take / seize) for yourself yet again the equipment of a awalay (foolish) raih (shepherd).

For, behold, I will qawam (rise up) up a raih (shepherd) in the aratz (Earth/land), who will not paqad (visit) those who are kachad (cut) off, neither will baqash (seek) those who are scattered, nor rapaa (heal) that which is shabar (broken), nor kawal (all) that which is sound; but he will akal (eat) the bashar (flesh) of the barayaa (fat) sheep, and will paraq (tear) their parasah (hoofs) in paraq (pieces).

Haway (Alas/Woe!) To the worthless shepherd who izab (leaves) the tzaan (flock)! The charab (sword) will be on his zarawai (arm), and on his yamayan (right hand) iyan (eye). His zarawai (arm) will be completely yabash (dry land), and his yamayan (right hand) iyan (eye) will be totally blinded!”
