Zechariah 12 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 An oracle. The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () concerning Yashar-Al (Israel). Yahawah (), who stretches out the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens), and yasad (lays) the foundation of the aratz (Earth/land), and yatzar (forms) the rawach (spirit / wind) of adam (man) qarab (among / near) him naam (declares prophetically):

2 “Behold, I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) a sap (cup) of reeling to all the surrounding imayam (peoples), and on Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) also will it be in the matzawar (siege) against Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

3 It will happen in that yawam (day), that I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) a maimasah (burdensome) aban (stone) for all the imayam (peoples). All who imas (burden) themselves with it will be severely wounded, and all the gawayay (nations) of the aratz (Earth/land) will be asap (gathered) together against it.

4 In that yawam (day),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “I will nakah (strike) every sawas (horse) with terror, and his rider with shagaiwan (madness); and I will paqach (open) my iyan (eye) on the bayath (house) of Yahawadah (Judah), and will nakah (strike) every sawas (horse) of the imayam (peoples) with iwarawan (blindness).

5 The chieftains of Yahawadah (Judah) will amar (spoke) in their lab (heart), ‘The yashabay (inhabitants) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) are my amatzah (strength) in Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) their Alahayam ().’

6 In that yawam (day) I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) the chieftains of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) like a kayawar (pan) of ash (fire) among itz (wood), and like a ash (fire) lapayad (torch) among sheaves; and they will akal (eat) all the surrounding imayam (peoples), on the right yamayan (right hand) and on the shamaawal (left hand); and Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) will yet again yashab (inhabit/dwell) in their own place, even in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

7 Yahawah () also will yashai (salvation) the ahalay (tents) of Yahawadah (Judah) raashawan (first), that the glory of the bayath (house) of Dawad (David) and the glory of the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) not be gadal (magnified) above Yahawadah (Judah).

8 In that yawam (day) Yahawah () will ganan (defend) the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem). He who is kashal (stumble / stagger) among them at that yawam (day) will be like Dawad (David), and the bayath (house) of Dawad (David) will be like Alahayam (), like the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) of Yahawah () panayam (face) them.

9 It will happen in that yawam (day), that I will baqash (seek) to shamad (destroy) all the gawayam (heathen) that bawaa (bring) against Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

10 I will shapak (pour) on the bayath (house) of Dawad (David), and on the yashab (inhabit/dwell) of Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), the rawach (spirit / wind) of chan (favor) and of thachanawan (supplication); and they will nabat (look) to me whom they have daqar (pierced); and they shall mourn for him, as one sapadaw (mourns) for his only marar (son), and will grieve bitterly for him, as marar (one) grieves for his bakawar (firstborn).

11 In that yawam (day) there will be a gadal (great) masapad (mourning) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), like the masapad (mourning) of Hadadaramawan (Hadadrimmon) in the baqaih (valley) of Magadawan (Megiddon).

12 The aratz (Earth/land) will sapad (mourn), every mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) bad (apart); the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the bayath (house) of Dawad (David) apart, and their wives apart; the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the bayath (house) of Nathan (give) apart, and their wives apart;

13 The mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the bayath (house) of Laway (Levi) apart, and their wives apart; the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart;

14 All the mashapachawath (families) who shaar (remain), every mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) apart, and their wives apart.
