Numbers 27 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Then qarab (come close) near the banawath (daughters) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad), the ban (son) of Chapar (Hepher), the ban (son) of Galaid (Gilead), the ban (son) of Makayar (Machir), the ban (son) of Manashah (Manasseh), of the mashapachath (families) of Manashah (Manasseh) the ban (son) of Yawasap (Joseph); and these are the shamawath (names) of his banawath (daughters): Machalah (Mahlah), Naih (Noah), and Chagalah (Hoglah), and Malakah (Milcah), and Tharatzah (Tirzah).

2 They imad (stood) panayam (face) Mashah (Moses), and panayam (face) Alaizar (Eleazar) the kahan (priest), and panayam (face) the nashayaam (princes) and all the idah (congregation), at the pathach (door) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting, amar (said),

3 “Our ab (father) mawath (death) in the madabar (wilderness), and he was not thawak (midst) the idah (company) of those who yaid (gathered) themselves together against Yahawah () in the idah (company) of Qarach (Korah): but he mawath (death) in his own chataa (sin); and he had no banayam (sons).

4 Why should the sham (name) of our ab (father) be taken garai (away) from thawak (midst) his mashapachah (tribe / clan / family), because he had no ban (son)? Nathan (give) to us a achazah (possession) thawak (midst) the achay (brothers) of our ab (father).”

5 Mashah (Moses) qarab (come close) their cause panayam (face) Yahawah ().

6 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

7 “The banawath (daughters) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad) dabar (word / matter) kan (for sure): you shall nathan (give) nathan (give) them a achazah (possession) of an nachalah (inheritance) thawak (midst) their ab (father) achay (brothers); and you shall cause the nachalah (inheritance) of their ab (father) to ibar (pass over/through) to them.

8 You shall dabar (word / matter) to the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (said), ‘If a ayash (man / husband) mawath (death), and has no ban (son), then you shall cause his nachalah (inheritance) to ibar (pass over/through) to his banath (daughter).

9 If he has no banath (daughter), then you shall nathan (give) his nachalah (inheritance) to his ach (brother/kinsman).

10 If he has no achayam (brothers), then you shall nathan (give) his nachalah (inheritance) to his ab (father) achayam (brothers).

11 If his ab (father) has no achayam (brothers), then you shall nathan (give) his nachalah (inheritance) to his kinsman who is qarawab (next) to him of his mashapachah (tribe / clan / family), and he shall yarash (possess) it: and it shall be to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) a chaqah (statute) and mashapat (ordinance), as Yahawah () tzawah (commanded) Mashah (Moses).’”

12 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “ilah (go up / offer) up into this har (mountain) of Ibarayam (Abarim), and raah (see) the aratz (Earth/land) which I nathan (give) given to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

13 When you raah (see / saw) seen it, you also shall be asap (gathered) to your im (nation / people), as Aharawan (Aaron) your ach (brother/kinsman) was asap (gathered);

14 Because you marah (rebelled) against my pah (word) in the madabar (wilderness) of Tzan (Zin), in the marayabah (strife) of the idah (congregation), to qadash (set apart / make holy) me at the may (waters) before their iyan (eye). (These are the may (waters) of Marayabah (Meribah) of Qadash (set apart / make holy) in the madabar (wilderness) of Tzan (Zin).)

15 Mashah (Moses) dabar (word / matter) to Yahawah (), amar (spoke),

16 “Let Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of the rawachath (spirits) of all bashar (flesh), paqad (visit) a ayash (man / husband) over the idah (congregation),

17 Who may yatzaa (go out / come out) out panayam (face) them, and who may bawaa (come) in panayam (face) them, and who may yatzaa (go out / come out) them out, and who may bawaa (come) them in; that the idah (congregation) of Yahawah () not be as tzaan (sheep) which have no raih (shepherd).”

18 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “laqach (take / seize) Yahawashawai (Joshua) the ban (son) of Nawan (Nun), a ayash (man / husband) in whom is the rawach (spirit / wind), and samak (lay) your yad (hand) on him;

19 And imad (set) him panayam (face) Alaizar (Eleazar) the kahan (priest), and panayam (face) all the idah (congregation); and commission him in their iyan (eye).

20 You shall nathan (give) of your honor on him, that all the idah (congregation) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) may shamai (hearken / hear).

21 He shall imad (stand) panayam (face) Alaizar (Eleazar) the kahan (priest), who shall inquire for him by the mashapat (judgment) of the awarayam (urim) panayam (face) Yahawah (): at his pah (word) shall they yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and at his pah (word) they shall bawaa (come) in, both he, and all the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) with him, even all the idah (congregation).”

22 Mashah (Moses) ishah (make) as Yahawah () tzawah (commanded) him; and he laqach (take / seize) Yahawashawai (Joshua), and imad (set) him panayam (face) Alaizar (Eleazar) the kahan (priest), and panayam (face) all the idah (congregation):

23 And he samak (laid) his yad (hand) on him, and commissioned him, as Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) by Mashah (Moses).
