Deuteronomy 18 — English–Hebrew Parallel

The kahanayam (priests) the Lawayay (Levites), all the shabat (tribe) of Laway (Levi), shall have no chalaq (portion) nor nachalah (inheritance) with Yashar-Al (Israel): they shall akal (eat) the ashay (offerings) of Yahawah () made by ashah (fire / offering made by fire), and his nachalah (inheritance).

They shall have no nachalah (inheritance) qarab (among / near) their ach (brother/kinsman): Yahawah () is their nachalah (inheritance), as he has dabar (word / matter) to them.

This shall be the kahanayam (priests)’ mashapat (due) from the im (nation / people), from those who zabach (offer) a zabach (sacrifice), whether it be shawar (ox) or shah (sheep), that they shall nathan (give) to the kahan (priest) the zarawai (shoulder), and the two lachayayam (cheeks), and the qabah (maw).

The raashayath (beginning) fruits of your grain, of your new thayarawash (wine), and of your yatzahar (fresh oil), and the raashayath (beginning) of the gaz (fleece) of your tzaan (sheep), you shall nathan (give) him.

For Yahawah () your Alahayam () has bachar (chosen) him out of all your shabat (tribes), to imad (stand) to sharath (minister) in the sham (name) of Yahawah (), him and his ban (son) for yawam (day).

If a Lawayay (Levite) bawaa (come) from any of your shair (gates) out of all Yashar-Al (Israel), where he lives as a foreigner, and bawaa (come) with all the awah (desire) of his napash (soul) to the maqawam (place) which Yahawah () shall bachar (choose);

Then he shall sharath (minister) in the sham (name) of Yahawah () his Alahayam (), as all his ach (brother/kinsman) the Lawayay (Levites) do, who imad (stand) there panayam (face) Yahawah ().

They shall have like chalaq (portions) to akal (eat), besides that which comes of the mamakar (sale) of his ab (father).

When you bawaa (come) come into the aratz (Earth/land) which Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) you, you shall not lamad (teach / instruct) to ishah (make) after the thawaibath (abominations) of those gawayam (nations).

There shall not be matzaa (found) with you anyone who makes his ban (son) or his banath (daughter) to ibar (pass over/through) through the ash (fire), qasam (one) who uses qasam (divination), inan (cloud) who practices sorcery, or an nachash (enchanter), or a kashap (sorcerer),

Or a chabar (charmer), or a consulter with a familiar awab (spirit), or a yadainay (wizard), or a darash (necromancer).

For whoever ishah (make) these things is an thawaibah (abomination) to Yahawah (): and galal (because) of these thawaibath (abominations) Yahawah () your Alahayam () does yarash (drive) them out from panayam (face) you.

You shall be thamayam (complete / whole) with Yahawah () your Alahayam ().

For these gawayam (nations), that you shall yarash (dispossess), shamai (hearken / hear) to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) not allowed you so to do.

Yahawah () your Alahayam () will qawam (rise up) up to you a nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) from the qarab (among / near) of you, of your ach (brother/kinsman), like me. You shall shamai (hearken / hear) to him.

This is according to all that you shaal (desired) of Yahawah () your Alahayam () in Charab (Horeb) in the yawam (day) of the qahal (assembly), amar (spoke), “shamai (hearken / hear) me not hear again the qawal (sound / voice) of Yahawah () my Alahayam (), neither raah (see) me see this gadawal (very great/important/mighty) ash (fire) any more, that I not mawath (death).”

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to me, “They yatab (have) well dabar (word / matter) that which they have spoken.

I will qawam (rise up) them up a nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) from qarab (among / near) their ach (brother/kinsman), like you; and I will nathan (give) my dabar (word / matter) in his pah (mouth), and he shall dabar (word / matter) to them all that I shall tzawah (command) him.

It shall happen, that ayash (man / husband) will not shamai (hearken / hear) to my dabar (word / matter) which he shall dabar (word / matter) in my sham (name), I will darash (require) it of him.

But the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy), who shall dabar (word / matter) a dabar (word / matter) zawad (presumptuously) in my sham (name), which I have not tzawah (commanded) him to dabar (word / matter), or who shall dabar (word / matter) in the sham (name) of other Alahayam (), that same nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) shall mawath (death).”

If you amar (spoke) in your labab (heart), “How shall we yadai (know) the dabar (word / matter) which Yahawah () has not dabar (word / matter)?”

When a nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) dabar (word / matter) in the sham (name) of Yahawah (), if the thing doesn't bawaa (come), nor happen, that is the thing which Yahawah () has not dabar (word / matter): the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) has dabar (word / matter) it zadawan (presumptuously), you shall not be gawar (afraid) of him.
