Joshua 16 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 The gawaral (lot) yatzaa (go out / come out) out for the banay (my son) of Yawasap (Joseph) from the Yaradan (Jordan) at Yarayachaw (Jericho), at the may (waters) of Yarayachaw (Jericho) on the mazarach (east), even the madabar (wilderness), ilah (go up / offer) up from Yarayachaw (Jericho) through the har (mountain) country to Bayath-Al (Bethel).

2 It yatzaa (go out / come out) out from Bayath-Al (Bethel) to Lawaz (Luz), and ibar (pass over/through) along to the gabawal (border/boundary) of the arakay (archites) to Itarawath (Ataroth);

3 And it yarad (went) down westward to the gabawal (border/boundary) of the Japhletites, to the gabawal (border/boundary) of Bayathachawarawan (Beth Horon) the thachathawan (lower), even to Gazar (Gezer); and ended at the yam (sea/waters).

4 The banay (my son) of Yawasap (Joseph), Manashah (Manasseh) and Aparayam (Ephraim), took their nachal (inheritance).

5 This was the gabawal (border/boundary) of the banay (my son) of Aparayam (Ephraim) according to their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family). The gabawal (border/boundary) of their nachalah (inheritance) eastward was Itarawathaadar (Ataroth Addar), to Bayathachawarawan (Beth Horon) the ilayawan (Most High).

6 The gabawal (border/boundary) yatzaa (go out / come out) out westward at Makamathath (Michmethath) on the tzapawan (north). The gabawal (border/boundary) sabab (turned) about eastward to Thaanathashalah (Taanath Shiloh), and ibar (pass over/through) along it on the mazarach (east) of Yanawach (Janoah).

7 It yarad (went) down from Yanawach (Janoah) to Itarawath (Ataroth), to Nairah (Naarah), pagai (reached) to Yarayachaw (Jericho), and yatzaa (go out / come out) out at the Yaradan (Jordan).

8 From Thapawach (Tappuah) the gabawal (border/boundary) went along westward to the nachal (stream / river) of Qanah (Kanah); and ended at the yam (sea/waters). This is the nachalah (inheritance) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of the banay (my son) of Aparayam (Ephraim) according to their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family);

9 Together with the irayam (cities) which were set apart for the banay (my son) of Aparayam (Ephraim) in the thawak (midst) of the nachalah (inheritance) of the banay (my son) of Manashah (Manasseh), all the irayam (cities) with their chatzar (villages).

10 They didn't yarash (drive) out the Kanainay (Canaanite) who lived in Gazar (Gezer); but the Kanainay (Canaanite) yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the qarab (among / near) of Aparayam (Ephraim) to this yawam (day), and have become ibad (servant) to do forced mas (labor).
