1 It happened achar (other) the mawath (death) of Yahawashawai (Joshua), the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shaal (asked) of Yahawah (), amar (spoke), “Who should ilah (go up / offer) up for us thachalah (first) against the Kanainay (Canaanites), to lacham (fight) against them?”
2 Yahawah () amar (spoke), “Yahawadah (Judah) shall ilah (go up / offer) up. Behold, I nathan (give) delivered the aratz (Earth/land) into his yad (hand).”
3 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said) to Shamaiwan (Simeon) his ach (brother/kinsman), “ilah (go up / offer) up with me into my gawaral (lot), that we may lacham (fight) against the Kanainay (Canaanite); and I likewise will halak (move) with you into your gawaral (lot).” So Shamaiwan (Simeon) yalak (went) with him.
4 Yahawadah (Judah) ilah (go up / offer) up; and Yahawah () nathan (give) the Kanainay (Canaanites) and the Parazay (Perizzites) into their yad (hand): and they nakah (struck) of them in Bazaq (Bezek) ishar (ten) alap (thousand) ayash (man / husband).
5 They matzaa (found) Adanayabazaq (Adoni-Bezek) in Bazaq (Bezek); and they lacham (fought) against him, and they nakah (struck) the Kanainay (Canaanite) and the Parazay (Perizzites).
6 But Adanayabazaq (Adoni-Bezek) nawas (fled); and they radap (pursued) achar (other) him, and achaz (caught) him, and qatzatz (cut) off his bahanawath (thumbs) and his ragal (feet / foot) toes.
7 Adanayabazaq (Adoni-Bezek) amar (spoke), “shabaiyam (seventy) malakayam (kings), having their bahanawath (thumbs) and their ragal (feet / foot) toes qatzatz (cut) off, scavenged under my shalachan (table): as I ishah (make) done, so Alahayam () has shalam (requited) me.” They bawaa (come) him to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and he mawath (death) there.
8 The banay (my son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) lacham (fought) against Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and lakad (took) it, and nakah (struck) it with the pah (edge) of the charab (sword), and shalach (send) the iyar (city) on ash (fire).
9 Afterward the banay (my son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) yarad (went) down to lacham (fight) against the Kanainay (Canaanite) who lived in the har (mountain) nagab (country), and in the South, and in the lowland.
10 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) yalak (went) against the Kanainay (Canaanite) who lived in Chabarawan (Hebron) (now the sham (name) of Chabarawan (Hebron) panayam (face) was Kiriath Qarayathaarabai (Arba)); and they nakah (struck) Shashay (Sheshai), and Achayaman (Ahiman), and Thalamay (Talmai).
11 From there he yalak (went) against the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Dabayar (Debir). (Now the sham (name) of Dabayar (Debir) panayam (face) was Kiriath Qarayathasanah (Sepher).)
12 “Kalab (Caleb) amar (said), He who nakah (strikes) Kiriath Qarayathasanah (Sepher), and lakad (takes) it, to him will I nathan (give) Ikasah (Achsah) my banath (daughter) as ayashah (woman / wife).”
13 Ithanayaal (Othniel) the ban (son) of Qanaz (Kenaz), Kalab (Caleb's) younger ach (brother/kinsman), lakad (took) it: and he nathan (give) him Ikasah (Achsah) his banath (daughter) as ayashah (woman / wife).
14 It happened, when she bawaa (bring), that she got him to shaal (ask) her ab (father) for a shadah (field): and she alighted from off her donkey; and Kalab (Caleb) amar (said) to her, “What would you like?”
15 She amar (said) to him, “yahab (give) me a barakah (blessing); for that you nathan (give) set me in the aratz (Earth/land) of the nagab (south), nathan (give) me also galath (springs) of mayam (Waters).” Then Kalab (Caleb) nathan (give) her the ilay (went up) galath (springs) and the lower galath (springs).
16 The banay (my son) of the Qayanay (Kenite), Mashah (Moses)’ brother-in-law, ilah (go up / offer) up out of the iyar (city) of thamar (palm) trees with the banay (my son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) into the madabar (wilderness) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), which is in the nagab (south) of Irad (Arad); and they yalak (went) and lived with the im (nation / people).
17 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) yalak (went) with Shamaiwan (Simeon) his ach (brother/kinsman), and they nakah (struck) the Kanainay (Canaanite) who yashab (inhabit/dwell) Tzapath (Zephath), and charam (utterly) destroyed it. The sham (name) of the iyar (city) was qaraa (called) Charamah (Hormah).
18 Also Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) lakad (took) Izah (Gaza) with its gabawal (border/boundary), and Ashaqalawan (Ashkelon) with its gabawal (border/boundary), and Iqarawan (Ekron) with its gabawal (border/boundary).
19 Yahawah () was with Yahawadah (Judah); and yarash (drove) out the inhabitants of the har (mountain) country; for he could not yarash (drive) out the yashabay (inhabitants) of the imaq (valley), because they had rakab (chariots) of barazal (iron).
20 They nathan (give) Chabarawan (Hebron) to Kalab (Caleb), as Mashah (Moses) had dabar (word / matter): and he yarash (drove) out there the shalawash (three) banay (my son) of Inaq (Anak).
21 The banay (my son) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) did not yarash (drive) out the Yabawasay (Jebusites) who yashab (inhabit/dwell) Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem); but the Yabawasay (Jebusites) yashab (inhabit/dwell) with the banay (my son) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) to this yawam (day).
22 The bayath (house) of Yawasap (Joseph), they also ilah (go up / offer) up against Bayath-Al (Bethel); and Yahawah () was with them.
23 The bayath (house) of Yawasap (Joseph) thawar (sent) to spy out Bayath-Al (Bethel). (Now the sham (name) of the iyar (city) panayam (face) was Lawaz (Luz).)
24 The watchers raah (see / saw) a ayash (man / husband) yatzaa (go out / come out) forth out of the iyar (city), and they amar (said) to him, “Please show us the mabawaa (entrance) into the iyar (city), and we will ishah (make) chasad (grace) with you.”
25 He showed them the mabawaa (entrance) into the iyar (city); and they nakah (struck) the iyar (city) with the pah (edge) of the charab (sword); but they let the ayash (man / husband) shalach (send) and all his mashapachah (tribe / clan / family).
26 The ayash (man / husband) yalak (went) into the aratz (Earth/land) of the Chathay (Hittites), and banah (build) a iyar (city), and qaraa (called) its sham (name) Lawaz (Luz), which is its sham (name) to this yawam (day).
27 Manashah (Manasseh) did not yarash (drive) out the inhabitants of Bayath-Shaan (Beth Shean) and its banath (daughter), nor Thainak (Taanach) and its banath (daughter), nor the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Dawar (Dor) and its banath (daughter), nor the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Yabalaim (Ibleam) and its banath (daughter), nor the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Magadawan (Megiddo) and its banath (daughter); but the Kanainay (Canaanite) yaal (would) yashab (inhabit/dwell) in that aratz (Earth/land).
28 It happened, when Yashar-Al (Israel) had grown chazaq (strong), that they shawam (place / establish / appoint) the Kanainay (Canaanite) to forced mas (labor), and did not yarash (utterly) yarash (drive) them out.
29 Aparayam (Ephraim) didn't yarash (drive) out the Kanainay (Canaanite) who lived in Gazar (Gezer); but the Kanainay (Canaanite) lived in Gazar (Gezer) qarab (among / near) them.
30 Zabawalawan (Zebulun) didn't yarash (drive) out the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Qatarawan (Kitron), nor the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Nahalal (Nahalol); but the Kanainay (Canaanite) lived qarab (among / near) them, and became subject to forced mas (labor).
31 Ashar (who/that) didn't yarash (drive) out the yashabay (inhabitants) of Ikaw (Acco), nor the yashabay (inhabitants) of Tzayadawan (Sidon), nor of Achalab (Ahlab), nor of Akazayab (Achzib), nor of Chalabah (Helbah), nor of Apaq (Aphik), nor of Rachab (Rehob);
32 But the Asharay (He who) lived qarab (among / near) the Kanainay (Canaanite), the yashabay (inhabitants) of the aratz (Earth/land); for they did not yarash (drive) them out.
33 Napathalay (Naphtali) didn't yarash (drive) out the yashabay (inhabitants) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh), nor the yashabay (inhabitants) of Bayathainath (Beth Anath); but he lived qarab (among / near) the Kanainay (Canaanite), the yashabay (inhabitants) of the aratz (Earth/land): nevertheless the yashabay (inhabitants) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh) and of Bayathainath (Beth Anath) became subject to forced mas (labor).
34 The Amaray (Amaray / Amorite) lachatz (forced) the banay (my son) of Dan (Dan) into the har (mountain) country; for they nathan (give) not allow them to yarad (come) down to the imaq (valley);
35 But the Amaray (Amaray / Amorite) yaal (would) yashab (inhabit/dwell) in har (mountain) Charas (Heres), in Ayalawan (Aijalon), and in Shailabayam (Shaalbim): yet the yad (hand) of the bayath (house) of Yawasap (Joseph) kabad (prevailed), so that they became subject to forced mas (labor).
36 The gabawal (border/boundary) of the Amaray (Amaray / Amorite) was from the mailahaiqarabayam (ascent) of mailahaiqarabayam (akrabbim), from the salai (rock), and upward.
