Abayamalak (Abimelech) the ban (son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal) yalak (went) to Shakam (Shechem) to his am (mother) achay (brothers), and dabar (word / matter) with them, and with all the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the bayath (house) of his am (mother) ab (father), amar (said),
“Please dabar (word / matter) in the azanay (ears) of all the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), ‘Is it tawab (good / proper function) for you that all the banay (my son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal), who are shabaiyam (seventy) ayash (man / husband), mashal (rule/have dominion) over you, or that achad (one) mashal (rule/have dominion) over you?’ Zakar (remember) also that I am your itzam (bone) and your bashar (flesh).”
His am (mother) achay (brothers) dabar (word / matter) of him in the azanay (ears) of all the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem) all these dabarayam (words): and their lab (heart) natah (inclined) to achar (other) Abayamalak (Abimelech); for they amar (said), “He is our ach (brother/kinsman).”
They nathan (give) him shabaiyam (seventy) pieces of kasap (silver) out of the bayath (house) of Bailabarayath (Baal Berith), with which Abayamalak (Abimelech) shakar (hired) rayaq (vain) and pachaz (light) anashayam (fellows), who yalak (followed) him.
He bawaa (bring) to his ab (father) bayath (house) at Iparah (Ophrah), and harag (kill) his ach (brother/kinsman) the banay (my son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal), being shabaiyam (seventy) ayash (man / husband), on achad (one) aban (stone): but Yawatham (Jotham) the youngest ban (son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal) was yathar (left); for he chabaa (hid) himself.
All the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem) asap (assembled) themselves together, and all the bayath (house) of Malawaa (Millo), and yalak (went) and malak (king) Abayamalak (Abimelech) malak (king), by the oak of the natzab (pillar) that was in Shakam (Shechem).
When they nagad (told) it to Yawatham (Jotham), he yalak (went) and imad (stood) on the raash (head) of har (mountain) Garazayam (Gerizim), and nashaa (lift) up his qawal (sound / voice), and qaraa (called), and amar (spoke) to them, “shamai (hearken / hear) to me, you bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), that Alahayam () may shamai (hearken / hear) to you.
The itzayam (trees) halak (move) forth on a time to mashach (anoint) a malak (king) over them; and they amar (said) to the zayath (olive) tree, ‘malak (king) over us.’
“But the zayath (olive) tree amar (spoke) to them, ‘Should I chadal (leave) my dashan (fatness), with which by me they honor Alahayam () and ayash (man / husband), and halak (move) to wave back and forth over the itzayam (trees)?’
“The itzayam (trees) amar (said) to the thaan (fig) tree, ‘yalak (come) and malak (king) over us.’
“But the thaan (fig) tree amar (said) to them, ‘Should I chadal (leave) my mathaq (sweetness), and my tawab (good / proper function) thanawabah (fruit), and halak (move) to wave back and forth over the itzayam (trees)?’
“The itzayam (trees) amar (said) to the gapan (vine), ‘yalak (come) and malak (king) over us.’
“The gapan (vine) amar (spoke) to them, ‘Should I chadal (leave) my new thayarawash (wine), which shamach (cheers) Alahayam () and ayash (man / husband), and halak (move) to wave back and forth over the itzayam (trees)?’
“Then all the itzayam (trees) amar (said) to the atad (bramble), ‘yalak (come) and malak (king) over us.’
“The atad (bramble) amar (said) to the itzayam (trees), ‘If in amath (truth) you mashach (anoint) me malak (king) over you, then bawaa (bring) and take chasah (refuge) in my tzal (shade); and if not, let ash (fire) yatzaa (go out / come out) out of the atad (bramble), and akal (eat) the arazay (cedars) of Labanawan (Lebanon).’
“Now therefore, if you ishah (make) dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abayamalak (Abimelech) malak (king), and if you ishah (make) dealt tawab (good / proper function) with Yarabail (Jerubbaal) and his bayath (house), and ishah (make) done to him according to the gamawal (deserving) of his yad (hand)
(For my ab (father) lacham (fought) for you, and risked his napash (soul), and natzal (delivered) you out of the yad (hand) of Madayan (Midian):
And you have qawam (rise up) up against my ab (father) bayath (house) this yawam (day), and have harag (kill) his ban (son), shabaiyam (seventy) ayash (man / husband), on achad (one) aban (stone), and have made Abayamalak (Abimelech), the ban (son) of his female amah (servant), malak (king) over the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), because he is your ach (brother/kinsman));
If you then ishah (make) dealt truly and righteously with Yarabail (Jerubbaal) and with his bayath (house) this yawam (day), then shamach (rejoice) in Abayamalak (Abimelech), and let him also shamach (rejoice) in you:
But if not, let ash (fire) yatzaa (go out / come out) out from Abayamalak (Abimelech), and akal (eat) the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), and the bayath (house) of Malawaa (Millo); and let ash (fire) yatzaa (go out / come out) out from the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), and from the bayath (house) of Malawaa (Millo), and akal (eat) Abayamalak (Abimelech).”
Yawatham (Jotham) barach (ran) away, and nawas (fled), and yalak (went) to Baar (Beer), and lived there, for panayam (face) of Abayamalak (Abimelech) his ach (brother/kinsman).
Abayamalak (Abimelech) was shawar (prince) over Yashar-Al (Israel) shalawash (three) shanayam (two).
Alahayam () shalach (send) an rai (evil) rawach (spirit / wind) between Abayamalak (Abimelech) and the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem); and the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem) dealt bagad (treacherously) with Abayamalak (Abimelech):
That the chamas (violence) done to the shabaiyam (seventy) banay (my son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal) might bawaa (bring), and that their dam (blood) might be shawam (place / establish / appoint) on Abayamalak (Abimelech) their ach (brother/kinsman), who harag (kill) them, and on the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), who chazaq (strengthened) his harag (kill) to kill his ach (brother/kinsman).
The bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem) shawam (place / establish / appoint) an arab (ambush) for him on the raashay (tops) of the harayam (mountains), and they gazal (robbed) ibar (pass over/through) who came along that darak (way) by them: and it was nagad (told) Abayamalak (Abimelech).
Gail (Gaal) the ban (son) of Ibad (servant) bawaa (bring) with his ach (brother/kinsman), and ibar (pass over/through) over to Shakam (Shechem); and the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem) batach (put) their trust in him.
They yatzaa (go out / come out) out into the shadah (field), and harvested their karam (vineyards), and darak (trod) the grapes, and ishah (make) festival, and bawaa (come) into the bayath (house) of their Alahayam (), and akal (eat) and shathah (drinks), and qalal (cursed) Abayamalak (Abimelech).
Gail (Gaal) the ban (son) of Ibad (servant) amar (said), “Who is Abayamalak (Abimelech), and who is Shakam (Shechem), that we should ibad (servant) him? Isn't he the ban (son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal)? And Zabal (Zebul) his officer? Ibad (servant) the ban (son) of Chamawar (Hamor) the ab (father) of Shakam (Shechem): but why should we ibad (servant) him?
Would that this im (nation / people) were under my yad (hand)! Then I would sawar (remove) Abayamalak (Abimelech).” He amar (said) to Abayamalak (Abimelech), “rabah (increase) your tzabaa (troop), and yatzaa (go out / come out) out!”
When Zabal (Zebul) the shar (prince / ruler) of the iyar (city) shamai (hearken / hear) the dabaray (words) of Gail (Gaal) the ban (son) of Ibad (servant), his ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) was charah (hot with anger).
He shalach (send) malaakayam (messengers) to Abayamalak (Abimelech) craftily, amar (said), “Behold, Gail (Gaal) the ban (son) of Ibad (servant) and his ach (brother/kinsman) bawaa (bring) come to Shakam (Shechem); and behold, they incite the iyar (city) against you.
Now therefore, go up by layal (night), you and the im (nation / people) who are with you, and lie in arab (wait) in the shadah (field):
And it shall be, that in the baqar (morning), as soon as the shamash (sun) is up, you shall shakam (rise) early, and rush on the iyar (city); and behold, when he and the im (nation / people) who are with him yatzaa (go out / come out) out against you, then may you ishah (make) to them as you shall matzaa (find) occasion.”
Abayamalak (Abimelech) qawam (rise up) up, and all the im (nation / people) who were with him, by layal (night), and they arab (laid) wait against Shakam (Shechem) in arabai (four) raashayam (companies).
Gail (Gaal) the ban (son) of Ibad (servant) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and imad (stood) in the pathach (entrance) of the shair (gate) of the iyar (city): and Abayamalak (Abimelech) qawam (rise up) up, and the im (nation / people) who were with him, from the maarab (ambush).
When Gail (Gaal) raah (see / saw) the im (nation / people), he amar (said) to Zabal (Zebul), “Behold, im (nation / people) are yarad (coming) down from the raashay (tops) of the harayam (mountains).” Zabal (Zebul) amar (said) to him, “You raah (see / saw) the tzal (shadow) of the harayam (mountains) as if they were im (nation / people).”
Gail (Gaal) dabar (word / matter) again and dabar (word / matter), “Behold, im (nation / people) are yarad (coming) down by the tabawar (middle) of the aratz (Earth/land), and one raash (head) bawaa (bring) by the darak (way) of the oak of Meonenim.”
Then Zabal (Zebul) amar (said) to him, “apaw (now) where is your pah (mouth), that you amar (said), ‘Who is Abayamalak (Abimelech), that we should ibad (servant) him?’ Isn't this the im (nation / people) that you have maas (despised)? Please yatzaa (go out / come out) out naa (now) and lacham (fight) with them.”
Gail (Gaal) yatzaa (go out / come out) out panayam (face) the bailay (men) of Shakam (Shechem), and lacham (fought) with Abayamalak (Abimelech).
Abayamalak (Abimelech) radap (chased) him, and he nawas (fled) panayam (face) him, and many napal (fall / be cast down) chalal (wounded), even to the pathach (entrance) of the shair (gate).
Abayamalak (Abimelech) lived at Arawamah (Arumah): and Zabal (Zebul) garash (drove) out Gail (Gaal) and his ach (brother/kinsman), that they should not yashab (inhabit/dwell) in Shakam (Shechem).
It happened on the next macharath (day), that the im (nation / people) yatzaa (go out / come out) out into the shadah (field); and they nagad (told) Abayamalak (Abimelech).
He laqach (take / seize) the im (nation / people), and chatzah (divided) them into shalawash (three) raashayam (companies), and arab (laid) wait in the shadah (field); and he raah (see / saw), and behold, the im (nation / people) yatzaa (go out / come out) forth out of the iyar (city); He qawam (rise up) up against them, and nakah (struck) them.
Abayamalak (Abimelech), and the raashayam (companies) that were with him, pashat (rushed) forward, and imad (stood) in the pathach (entrance) of the shair (gate) of the iyar (city): and the shanayam (two) raashayam (companies) pashat (rushed) on all who were in the shadah (field), and nakah (struck) them.
Abayamalak (Abimelech) lacham (fought) against the iyar (city) all that yawam (day); and he lakad (took) the iyar (city), and harag (kill) the im (nation / people) who were therein: and he nathatz (beat) down the iyar (city), and zarai (sowed) it with malach (salt).
When all the bailay (men) of the magadal (tower) of Shakam (Shechem) shamai (hearken / hear) of it, they bawaa (bring) into the stronghold of the bayath (house) of Barayath (covenant).
It was nagad (told) Abayamalak (Abimelech) that all the bailay (men) of the magadal (tower) of Shakam (Shechem) were qabatz (gathered) together.
Abayamalak (Abimelech) ilah (go up / offer) up to har (mountain) Tzalamawan (Zalmon), he and all the im (nation / people) who were with him; and Abayamalak (Abimelech) laqach (take / seize) an axe in his yad (hand), and karath (cut) down a shawak (bough) from the itzayam (trees), and nashaa (lift) it up, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) it on his shakam (shoulder): and he amar (said) to the im (nation / people) who were with him, “What you raah (see / saw) seen me ishah (make), mahar (make) haste, and ishah (make) as I have done!”
All the im (nation / people) likewise ayash (man / husband) karath (cut) down his shawak (bough), and yalak (followed) Abayamalak (Abimelech), and shawam (place / establish / appoint) them at the base of the stronghold, and yatzath (set) the stronghold on ash (fire) on them; so that all the im (nation / people) of the magadal (tower) of Shakam (Shechem) mawath (death) also, about a alap (thousand) anashay (men) and ayashah (woman / wife).
Then yalak (went) Abayamalak (Abimelech) to Thabatz (Thebez), and chanah (encamped) against Thabatz (Thebez), and lakad (took) it.
But there was a iz (strength / might / refuge) magadal (tower) thawak (midst) the iyar (city), and there nawas (fled) all the anashayam (men) and nashayam (women), and all they of the iyar (city), and sagar (shut) themselves in, and ilah (go up / offer) up to the gag (roof) of the magadal (tower).
Abayamalak (Abimelech) bawaa (bring) to the magadal (tower), and lacham (fought) against it, and nagash (drew) near to the pathach (door) of the magadal (tower) to sharap (burn) it with ash (fire).
A achad (one) ayashah (woman / wife) shalak (cast) an upper rakab (millstone) on Abayamalak (Abimelech's) raash (head), and ratzatz (broke) his galagalath (skull).
Then he qaraa (called) maharah (hastily) to the nair (young) man his armor bearer, and amar (said) to him, “shalap (draw) your charab (sword), and mawath (death) me, that men not amar (said) of me, ‘A ayashah (woman / wife) harag (kill) him.’ His nair (young) man thrust him daqar (through), and he mawath (death).”
When the ayash (man / husband) of Yashar-Al (Israel) raah (see / saw) that Abayamalak (Abimelech) was mawath (death), they departed every ayash (man / husband) to his maqawam (place).
Thus Alahayam () shawab (turn back / repent) the rai (wickedness) of Abayamalak (Abimelech), which he ishah (make) to his ab (father), in harag (kill) his shabaiyam (seventy) ach (brother/kinsman);
And all the rai (wickedness) of the rai (men) of Shakam (Shechem) did Alahayam () shawab (turn back / repent) on their raash (head): and on them bawaa (come) the qalalah (curse) of Yawatham (Jotham) the ban (son) of Yarabail (Jerubbaal).
