Samuel 10 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Then Shamawaal (Samuel) laqach (take / seize) the pak (vial) of shaman (oil), and yatzaq (poured) it on his raash (head), and nashaq (kissed) him, and amar (spoke), “Isn't it that Yahawah () has mashach (anointed) you to be nagayad (prince) over his nachalah (inheritance)?

When you have departed from me today, then you shall matzaa (find) shanayam (two) anashayam (men) by Rachal (Rachel's) tomb, in the gabawal (border/boundary) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) at Tzalatzach (Zelzah); and they will amar (said) you, ‘The donkeys which you halak (move) to baqash (seek) matzaa (have) been found; and behold, your ab (father) has stopped dabar (word / matter) about the donkeys, and is anxious for you, amar (said), “What shall I ishah (make) for my ban (son)?”’

“Then you shall chalap (go) on halaah (forward) from there, and you shall bawaa (come) to the oak of Thabawar (Tabor); and shalawash (three) anashayam (men) shall matzaa (meet) you there ilah (go up / offer) up to Alahayam () to Bayath-Al (Bethel), achad (one) nashaa (lift) shalawash (three) young goats, and another nashaa (lift) shalawash (three) loaves of lacham (bread), and another nashaa (lift) a nabal (bottle) of yayan (wine):

And they will greet you, and nathan (give) you shanayam (two) loaves of lacham (bread), which you shall laqach (take / seize) of their yad (hand).

“Achar (other) that you shall bawaa (come) to the gabaih (hill) of Alahayam (), where is the natzayab (garrison) of the Palashathay (Philistines): and it shall happen, when you bawaa (come) come there to the iyar (city), that you shall pagai (meet) a chabal (band) of nabayaayam (prophets) yarad (coming) down from the bamah (high) place with a nabal (psaltery), and a tambourine, and a chalayal (pipe), and a kanawar (harp), panayam (face) them; and they will be nabaa (prophesying):

And the rawach (spirit / wind) of Yahawah () will tzalach (come) mightily on you, and you shall nabaa (prophesy) with them, and shall be hapak (turned) into achar (other) ayash (man / husband).

Let it be, when these athawath (signs) bawaa (come) come to you, that you ishah (make) as matzaa (occasion) shall yad (hand) you; for Alahayam () is with you.

“You shall yarad (go) down panayam (face) me to Galagal (Gilgal); and behold, I will yarad (come) down to you, to ilah (go up / offer) burnt ilawath (offerings), and to ilah (go up / offer) zabach (sacrifices) of peace ilawath (offerings): you shall yachal (wait) shabai (seven) yamayam (days), until I bawaa (bring) to you, and show you what you shall ishah (make).”

It was so, that when he had panah (turn) his shakam (back) to yalak (go) from Shamawaal (Samuel), Alahayam () hapak (gave) him achar (other) lab (heart): and all those athawath (signs) happened that yawam (day).

When they bawaa (come) there to the gabaih (hill), behold, a chabal (band) of nabaayam (prophets) qaraa (called) him; and the rawach (spirit / wind) of Alahayam () tzalach (came) mightily on him, and he nabaa (prophesied) thawak (midst) them.

It happened, when all who yadai (knew) him athamawal (before) raah (see / saw) that, behold, he nabaa (prophesied) with the nabaayam (prophets), then the im (nation / people) amar (said) ayash (man / husband) to rai (neigbor/another person), “What is this that has come to the ban (son) of Qayash (Kish)? Is Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) also among the nabaayam (prophets)?”

Ayash (man / husband) of the same place inah (answer / respond), “Who is their ab (father)?” Therefore it became a mashal (proverb), “Is Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) also among the nabaayam (prophets)?”

When he kalah (complete / finish) made an end of nabaa (prophesying), he bawaa (bring) to the bamah (high) place.

Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) dawad (uncle) amar (said) to him and to his nair (servant), “an (where) did you halak (move)?” He amar (said), “To baqash (seek) the donkeys. When we raah (see / saw) that they were not found, we bawaa (bring) to Shamawaal (Samuel).”

Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) dawad (uncle) amar (said), “Please nagad (tell) me what Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (said) to you.”

Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) amar (said) to his dawad (uncle), “He amar (said) us nagad (plainly) that the donkeys were matzaa (found).” But dabar (word / matter) the matter of the malawakah (kingdom), of which Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (said), he didn't nagad (tell) him.

Shamawaal (Samuel) tzaiq (called) the im (nation / people) together to Yahawah () to Matzapah (Mizpah);

And he amar (spoke) to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), “Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), ‘I ilah (go up / offer) up Yashar-Al (Israel) out of Matzarayam (Egypt), and I natzal (delivered) you out of the yad (hand) of the Matzarayam (Egyptians), and out of the yad (hand) of all the mamalakawath (kingdoms) that lachatz (oppressed) you:’

But you have this yawam (day) maas (rejected) your Alahayam (), who himself yashai (salvation) you out of all your rai (calamities) and your distresses; and you have amar (spoke) to him, ‘No! Shawam (place / establish / appoint) a malak (king) over us.’ Now therefore yatzab (present) yourselves panayam (face) Yahawah () by your shabat (tribes), and by your alap (thousands).”

So Shamawaal (Samuel) brought all the shabatay (tribes) of Yashar-Al (Israel) qarab (come close), and the shabat (tribe) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) was lakad (taken).

He brought the shabat (tribe) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) qarab (come close) by their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family); and the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the Matrites was lakad (taken); and Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) the ban (son) of Qayash (Kish) was lakad (taken): but when they baqash (sought) him, he could not be matzaa (found).

Therefore they shaal (asked) of Yahawah () further, “Is there yet a ayash (man / husband) to bawaa (come) here?” Yahawah () amar (spoke), “Behold, he has chabaa (hidden) himself among the baggage.”

They rawatz (ran) and laqach (take / seize) him there; and when he yatzab (stood) thawak (midst) the im (nation / people), he was gabah (higher) than any of the im (nation / people) from his shakam (shoulders) and upward.

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (spoke) to all the im (nation / people), “You raah (see) him whom Yahawah () has bachar (chosen), that there is none like him among all the im (nation / people)?” All the im (nation / people) rawai (shouted), and amar (spoke), “Let the malak (king) chayah (live)!”

Then Shamawaal (Samuel) dabar (word / matter) the im (nation / people) the regulations of the malawakah (kingdom), and kathab (write) it in a sapar (book / scribed document), and yanach (laid) it up panayam (face) Yahawah (). Shamawaal (Samuel) shalach (send) all the im (nation / people) shalach (send), every ayash (man / husband) to his bayath (house).

Shaawal (Saul) also halak (move) to his bayath (house) to Gabaih (Gibeah); and there yalak (went) with him the chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor), whose lab (heart) Alahayam () had nagai (touched).

But certain worthless fellows amar (said), “How shall this man yashai (salvation) us?” They bazah (despised) him, and bawaa (bring) him no manachah (present). But he held his charash (peace).
