Samuel 7 — English–Hebrew Parallel

The anashay (men) of Kiriath Qarayath-Yairayam (Jearim) bawaa (come), and ilah (go up / offer) up the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), and bawaa (come) it into the bayath (house) of Abayanadab (Abinadab) in the gabaih (hill), and qadash (set apart / make holy) Alaizar (Eleazar) his ban (son) to shamar (keep/guard) the arawan (ark) of Yahawah ().

It happened, from the yawam (day) that the arawan (ark) stayed in Kiriath Qarayath-Yairayam (Jearim), that the yawam (day) was rabah (long); for it was isharayam (twenty) shanah (years): and all the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel) nahah (lamented) achar (other) Yahawah ().

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (spoke) to all the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (spoke), “If you do shawab (turn back / repent) to Yahawah () with all your labab (heart), then sawar (put) away the foreign Alahayam () and the Ishatharawath (Ashtaroth) from thawak (midst) you, and kawan (direct) your labab (hearts) to Yahawah (), and ibad (servant) him only; and he will natzal (deliver) you out of the yad (hand) of the Palashathay (Philistines).”

Then the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) sawar (removed) the Bail (Baals) and the Ishatharawath (Ashtaroth), and ibad (servant) Yahawah () only.

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (spoke), “qabatz (gather) all Yashar-Al (Israel) to Matzapah (Mizpah), and I will palal (pray) for you to Yahawah ().”

They qabatz (gathered) together to Matzapah (Mizpah), and shaab (drew) mayam (Waters), and shapak (poured) it out panayam (face) Yahawah (), and tzawam (fasted) on that yawam (day), and amar (spoke) there, “We have chataa (sinned) against Yahawah ().” Shamawaal (Samuel) shapat (judge / judgement) the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) in Matzapah (Mizpah).

When the Palashathay (Philistines) shamai (hearken / hear) that the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) were qabatz (gathered) together at Matzapah (Mizpah), the saranay (lords) of the Palashathay (Philistines) ilah (go up / offer) up against Yashar-Al (Israel). When the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shamai (hearken / hear) it, they were yaraa (fear / be afraid) of the Palashathay (Philistines).

The banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) amar (spoke) to Shamawaal (Samuel), “Don't charash (cease) to zaiq (cry) to Yahawah () our Alahayam () for us, that he will yashai (salvation) us out of the yad (hand) of the Palashathay (Philistines).”

Shamawaal (Samuel) laqach (take / seize) a suckling talah (lamb), and ilah (go up / offer) it for a kalayal (whole) burnt ilah (offering) to Yahawah (): and Shamawaal (Samuel) zaiq (cried) to Yahawah () for Yashar-Al (Israel); and Yahawah () inah (answer / respond) him.

As Shamawaal (Samuel) was ilah (go up / offer) up the burnt ilah (offering), the Palashathay (Philistines) nagash (drew) near to malachamah (battle) against Yashar-Al (Israel); but Yahawah () raim (thundered) with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qawal (sound / voice) on that yawam (day) on the Palashathay (Philistines), and confused them; and they were nagap (struck) down panayam (face) Yashar-Al (Israel).

The anashay (men) of Yashar-Al (Israel) yatzaa (go out / come out) out of Matzapah (Mizpah), and radap (pursued) the Palashathay (Philistines), and nakah (struck) them, until they came under Bayathakar (Beth Kar).

Then Shamawaal (Samuel) laqach (take / seize) a aban (stone), and shawam (place / establish / appoint) it between Matzapah (Mizpah) and Shan (Shen), and qaraa (called) its sham (name) Abanahaizar (Ebenezer), amar (spoke), “Yahawah () izar (helped) us until now.”

So the Palashathay (Philistines) were kanai (subdued), and they bawaa (come) no more within the gabawal (border/boundary) of Yashar-Al (Israel). The yad (hand) of Yahawah () was against the Palashathay (Philistines) all the yamay (days) of Shamawaal (Samuel).

The irayam (cities) which the Palashathay (Philistines) had laqach (take / seize) from Yashar-Al (Israel) were shawab (turn) to Yashar-Al (Israel), from Iqarawan (Ekron) even to gath (gath); and Yashar-Al (Israel) natzal (recovered) its gabawal (border/boundary) out of the yad (hand) of the Palashathay (Philistines). There was shalawam (peace / safety) between Yashar-Al (Israel) and the Amaray (Amaray / Amorite).

Shamawaal (Samuel) shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) all the yamay (days) of his chay (life).

He halak (move) from shanah (year) to shanah (year) in sabab (circuit) to Bayath-Al (Bethel) and Galagal (Gilgal), and Matzapah (Mizpah); and he shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) in all those maqawamawath (places).

His thashawabah (return) was to Ramah (Ramah), for there was his bayath (house); and there he shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel): and he banah (build) there an mazabach (altar) to Yahawah ().
