Jacob's blessing on Judah
Genesis 49:8–12
A lion's whelp, the sceptre that shall not depart until he comes to whom it belongs, the foal bound to the vine.
8 “Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), your ach (brother/kinsman) will yadah (praise) you. Your yad (hand) will be on the irap (neck) of your ayab (enemy). Your ab (father) banay (my son) will shachah (bow) down before you.
9 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) is a aray (lion's) cub. From the tarap (prey), my ban (son), you have ilah (go up / offer) up. He stooped down, he rabatz (crouched) as a labayaa (lion), as a labayaa (lioness). Who will qawam (rise up) him up?
10 The scepter will not sawar (depart) from Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), nor the chaqaq (lawgiver) staff from between his ragal (feet / foot), kay (surely) he bawaa (bring) to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the imayam (peoples) be.
11 Asar (binding) his iyar (foal) to the gapan (vine), his donkey's ban (son) to the sharaq (choice) vine; he has kabas (washed) his labawash (garments) in yayan (wine), his robes in the dam (blood) of inabayam (grapes).
12 His iyanayam (eyes) will be chakalayal (red) with yayan (wine), his shanayam (two) laban (white) with chalab (milk).
