Prayer of Jabez
1 Chronicles 4:9–10
Two verses in the genealogies of Yahawadah: a man more honourable than his brothers asks for blessing, a larger border, and a hand kept from evil.
9 Yaibatz (Jabez) was more honorable than his ach (brother/kinsman): and his am (mother) sham (name) him Yaibatz (Jabez), amar (said), “Because I yalad (birth / begot) him with itzab (sorrow).”
10 Yaibatz (Jabez) qaraa (called) on the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (spoke), “Oh that you would barak (blessed) me barak (blessed), and rabah (enlarge) my gabawal (border/boundary), and that your yad (hand) might be with me, and that you would ishah (make) me from rai (evil), that it not be to!” my sorrow! Alahayam () bawaa (come) him that which he shaal (requested).
