The Shema — the great commandment
Deuteronomy 6:4–9
Yahawah our God, Yahawah is one — and you shall love him with all your heart, and teach these words to your children, and write them on your doorposts.
4 Shamai (hearken / hear), Yashar-Al (Israel): Yahawah () is our Alahayam (); Yahawah () is achad (one):
5 And you shall ahab (love) Yahawah () your Alahayam () with all your labab (heart), and with all your napash (soul), and with all your maad (might).
6 These dabarayam (words), which I tzawah (command) you this yawam (day), shall be on your labab (heart);
7 and you shall shanan (teach) them diligently to your ban (son), and shall dabar (word / matter) of them when you yashab (inhabit/dwell) in your bayath (house), and when you yalak (walk) by the darak (way), and when you shakab (lie) down, and when you qawam (rise up).
8 You shall qashar (bind) them for an awath (sign) on your yad (hand), and they shall be the tawapapah (point) of focus bayan (between) your iyan (eye).
9 You shall kathab (write) them on the mazawazah (door) posts of your bayath (house), and on your shair (gates).
